I love Press 'n Seal, I use it all the time but never felt compelled to write about it until now. Last night after heavy rains my sump pump was not working properly and water was starting to flood my basement. The sump pump had moved too far away from the discharge pipe and the float (which determines water level) was getting hung up on the side of the pit, hence not triggering the pump to turn on when the water got too high. After trying various pieces of twine to tie the pump to the drainpipe which would allow the float to move, the twine would get wet and break. I was furiously trying to figure out what else I could use to bring them closer together when i grabbed my Press 'n Seal, cut a sheet in half, and used it to wrap the sump pump to the drain pipe. It worked like a charm, the float was not free to move. Press 'n Seal saved my basement, thanks Glad!

I LOVE press n seal and wouldn't use anything else. But, since the plastic cutter, it's been nothing but frustration. I have been a loyal customer for years, but unless there are major improvements, never again. The picture is my latest attempt at wrapping up leftovers - trying as hard as I could to get it to rip correctly.

101st Use for this product!

By

from Northern Colorado

Comments about Glad Press'n Seal Plastic Wrap:

I use this product for many tasks around the house and have been very pleased. I have found use #101 which is completely out of the norm. I recently had surgery and have three sets of stitches that I can't get wet. I would normally use plastic wrap, but I used Press N Seal instead and it was perfect. I wrapped it around my leg, it clung to my skin perfectly and sealed it, keeping my stitches from getting wet in the shower. It was an awesome DIY. Must buy more!!! Love this product.

Based on previous reviews?...Should I buy?

By

from Jefferson City, MO, United States

Comments about Glad Press'n Seal Plastic Wrap:

I read through some previous but recent reviews and it seems that most people have issues with the dispenser in the box. It's appeared that you've offered to make things right with them, but I'm considering purchasing this item for the first time and want to know if you'll be dealing with the design fail on this? I don't want to go out there and buy a bunch of this for what i need it for only to regret it!? Thanks!

Press's Seal dispenser - AWFUL

By

from Undisclosed

Comments about Glad Press'n Seal Plastic Wrap:

I do like Press'n Seal but always have issues with getting it out of box. Cutter on box awful. Last box I have here, wrap got stuck to itself, then started ripping in middle. So basically whole box is ruined.

Pretty good wrap...lousy dispenser

By

from San Tan Valley, AZ USA

Comments about Glad Press'n Seal Plastic Wrap:

GLAD Press'n Seal is a pretty good wrap/ seal for just about any container, including itself. However, the engineers took the rest of the week off before putting some practical testing into the dispenser box. It is AWFUL! I challenge anyone to attempt pulling out a length of wrap and attempt to cut it free from the roll without destroying the dispenser and without a string of invectives that would strike fear in the hearts of a platoon of US Marines. Please, let me know when and if a redesign is in the works. I'll GLADly purchase another one. I would have awarded 5 stars if this product resided in a practical dispenser.

Needs new packaging

By

from Brooklyn, NY, United States

Comments about Glad Press'n Seal Plastic Wrap:

I love this product. I hate the packaging. The box falls apart after the first use. Because of this the cutting edge doesnt work properly. I waste more of the wrap then I use. From reading the comments I see I'm not the only one with this problem. Please change your packaging!! Thank You

Worst cutting edge ever!!

By

from Las Vegas, NV, United States

Comments about Glad Press'n Seal Plastic Wrap:

I love this wrap.....however the cutting edge just doesn't work. I have purchased this product for years, despite of the outrageous cost of it. But as of late, I give up. The cost is double because I'm throwing half of it away because of the worthless cutter. I can't afford this. I won't be buying it anymore.

Fabulous Frustrating Wrap

By

from Janesville, WI, United States

Comments about Glad Press'n Seal Plastic Wrap:

This wrap is just great and I use it for everything. I've told many people about how I use it and they also now use it. However, cutting the wrap is another issue. I always buy the large size because I use so much. Within the first week the lid with the cutter is starting to break down and give way and the cutter doesn't cut as it should. The lid is just too flimsy. At this time the wrap container becomes frustrating and lots of wrap gets wasted. I see that I'm not alone in this complaint. I know of another wrap a friend buys that has a cutter you slide across the wrap to cut it, she loves it. PLEASE come up with a better way to cut this wrap.

Inadequate cutter

Comments about Glad Press'n Seal Plastic Wrap:

Why have a plastic cutter which does not cut the wrap? I hope my next roll of cling wrap doesn't have that same inadequate cutter or I'll have to make a change!

Horrible Cutter Creates Extreme Waste

By

from Newton, NC

Comments about Glad Press'n Seal Plastic Wrap:

This product works extremely well if you can get it off the roll--and that is a very big IF. The design of the cutter and the box is so poor that nearly half of the material gets wasted trying to get it out. I suspect I'm wasting my time mentioning this as this has been noted as a problem for the last three years and it still isn't fixed. Such a waster of an otherwise excellent product.

I have bought Press 'n Seal whenever I could. I prefer the it over plastic wrap. I never have an issue with the cutting edge & it seals nicely to my items that I wrap. I will only buy Press 'n Seal now.

Cutter needs Work!

The product is excellent, but the cutter is the worse. However, it is bad in all Glad products. My husband only uses Glad! So, I have to endure it!

suggested improvements

By

from Summerville, SC, United States

Comments about Glad Press'n Seal Plastic Wrap:

Been using this product for some years, usually the 70 sq. ft box with satisfactory results. Got the 140 and found it impossible to tear, had to use scissors. Problem solved when I put my arm (elbow to wrist) along top of package to hold it down while pulling up on sheet. Voila!!! Wish the new wrap was just a tad stickier. Also miss the Freezer variety very much. If I knew that it would have been discontinued I'd bought a bunch.

Terrible Packaging

By

from Illinois, United States

Comments about Glad Press'n Seal Plastic Wrap:

This is without a doubt the most difficult product to use properly. The cutter on the box is totally useless and the white end caps that are supposed to hold the roll in the box fell out making unrolling of the product impossible. We actually had to take the roll out of the box, unroll the needed length, and use scissors to cut it.

Beware of Adhesive

By

from Colorado, United States

Comments about Glad Press'n Seal Plastic Wrap:

I have a very expensive dining room table and to protect it from the 1 YO grandchild messy eating I put down some of this. If you notice it states in the description it is good on wood as well as other surfaces. The adhesive sticks to the table and is very difficult to remove. If you call the help line all I was told was that the product is designed to protect your food. So if you want to wrap a watermelon you should be good but anything else you are on your own.

The cutting blade just shreds into a mess.

By

from Jacksonville, FL.

Comments about Glad Press'n Seal Plastic Wrap:

I'm on my THIRD roll. I LOVE the cling because NO air gets in. However, not one has come with a useable cutting blade. I buy the 70sqft roll, but am left with half if that.- I get 30-35 sqft., not 70sf because of the waste (that picture on a review here is accurate). I can' t continue this waste - Do you have effective blades you can send out or some answer? ps: (Also my scissors don't cut thru evenly, so that's no solution).
