I am old enough to remember the days before freezer bags had such tight seals. I know for quite a while in my childhood freezer bags were closed by the metal and paper twistie ties or I even knew a few people who used the wax coated boxes. You can be sure those boxes didn't seal squat out let alone any air. It was not at all uncommon to have items with freezer burn and to open and spill in the freezer. It was just a completely different world. Now today with the tight seal it's SO much better. It's not just for freezing. I wouldn't even know where to begin to list the number of items I have placed in these bags. I just grab for the bags in the pantry and store cake decorating supplies, leftovers, food from open boxes and bags, it just goes on and on and on and that doesn't even include the countless items for 50+ years from every corner of the house and for every use imaginable that I've grabbed Ziploc bags. I learned long long ago that it NEVER pays to try and save a few pennies and purchase unknown brands of much cheaper products. This is definitely one area where you get what you pay for. I've never worried about the bag breaking or having problems. I've used these bags countless times when I've traveled. In my "past life" I traveled every month for my paid employment, for a hobby job on the side, for personal travel, for church and countless other things. I actually had a "to go" bag packed all the time with duplicates of all the toiletries used at home in makeup, haircare, bathing, and so forth. Everything but medication could be duplicated and I stored these items in Ziploc bags. I used the bags for dirty laundry, for unmentionables, for food, you name it. I've stored photographs, important papers, you name it, if it could fit into a size of Ziploc bag, its been in there. The small snack size Ziploc bag was one of the greatest creations the company ever did. That small little size is IMMENSELY useful. Anytime I have a small amount of something to store I find myself reaching for these size bag. I have probably used it for everything BUT snacks. Several years ago my brother gave me the bag sealing machine for Christmas. Once I sat down and figured out how to use it, it's changed my life. I do an INSANELY large amount of baking for others in addition I now must eat gluten free in my life. If you know anyone with Celiac you know they have between 15 and 20 different flours on hand for baking and cooking gluten free. A bad characteristic of many of these flours (since many are based on nuts) is that they go stale or rancid very quickly. I was taught years ago by my mother to store flour and nuts and a vast number of other items in the freezer. The bag sealer has been an God Send for me for freezer storage of these flours both gluten and non-gluten. Whole wheat flour goes rancid 3 times faster than regular AP flour. I keep everything in these bags. Pretzel sticks, crackers, potato chips, cereals, and on and on and on. I don't know what I would do without all of my Ziploc products.

I have used Ziploc Freezer Bags for years and never had a problem... until now. The new Ziploc Freezer Bags with the easy open tabs leak. They will not hold a seal. I have been through a half of a box and have yet to get a good seal and they tear very easily at the top of the bag. This used to be a great product. I would not recommend this product to anyone now. In fact I would recommend not buying it at all now.

Hard to seal closed

By

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

I've gotten Ziploc Brand before but don't know if they've changed the "zipping" mechanism or what but it's extremely hard and frustrating to get them sealed.

Bags Rip!

By

from RI

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

I have used Ziploc Freezer bags (both quart and gallon size) for many, many years. But, your newly designed ones rip at the sides. Today is the second time one of these bags ripped at the side (exact same place). Once closed, the bags are so tightly sealed, that when finally opened, it tears at the side. Great seal, but the side seam needs to be more tightly sealed.

Only good for an exercise in controlling your ANGER

By

from Kansas City, KS, United States

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

I am SO glad I found a website to review this HORRIBLE product! Every time I have to open one of these bags I've used in my freezer I get SO ticked off because the plastic "easy open" tab BREAKS every time! Then it is a BATTLE to try and open the freakin' bag! Ziploc bags are SUPPOSED to make life easier. These bags only make it more difficult. It seems that Ziploc has succeeded in losing many customers by replacing their old design with this new WORTHLESS design. I will NEVER purchase this product again. It is a TOTAL WASTE of money! I will begin using a no label brand that makes a standard zip.

Usually love these but not happy with them lately!!

By

from Syracuse, NY, United States

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

I usually buy ziploc because I know they are a good reliable bag but the last box I baught were aweful! Every time I opened one the sides busted out or they broke as soon as I sealed them! Unfortunately this kinda gave me a bad taste in my mouth about buying these again. I don't mind spending the money on a decent product but I refuse to throw my money away and that's exactly what I did when I bought these bags!!

Not happy with these.

By

from Port Orchard, WA, United States

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

We have used ziplock bags for years and years. Until recently, we were completely satisfied. Every time the new pull tab rips and separates from the rest of the bag. We have 5 dogs and make homemade dog food and have found these great to use as food storage.

Dedicated user

By

from Binghamton, NY, United States

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

I have been using this product for years. Unfortunately I see that many are having the same issue I have. The bags are leaking. I cannot marinade any meats, I cannot freeze any liquid type of product (soups/stews/casseroles/pasta sauce, etc.) for when I thaw them out they all leak out of the bag. I have tried various methods to make sure I cool my product completely before putting anything in the bag, even by refrigerating over night. It is not just a bag here and there, it is every bag that I use. So when I thaw out a bag of chili, I have to put it in another bag to save the juice. Or remove the product in the bag and thaw in another container. Most of my issues seem to result from freezing though I have tried to marinade some items and have had to put them in a pan after a few ran through my refrigerator. I like the product and do not want to stop using it. Please fix this issue.

No seal...

By

from Ballston Spa, NY, United States

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

Wish I could attach a picture... Does not seal because there isn't enough of a bond between the 2 sides of the bag. Just rips down at the easiest tug. On new bags I can see gaps between the 2 zippers without even opening... the boulder competition has a reliable seal at the edge and at least a 1/8" bond at the zipper.

They leak everywhere

By

from Phoenix, AZ, United States

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

We use gallon sized Ziploc bags to marinate meat overnight in. We noticed with the new formula bags, when we would pull the bag out of the fridge after 24 hours it had leaked all over our brand new fridge. We then started noticing the bags leak immediately upon putting any liquid in them. We had drips of marinade and raw meat juice all over out counters. We have resorted to double bagging stuff so it doesn't create a massive mess. What the heck happened? Ziploc used to be gold standard in baggies. Oh yeah, and the tabs break off almost every time I close them.

FreezerBurnt Meats within weeks

By

from Phoenix, AZ, United States

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

I've been disappointed that my meat is becoming freezer burnt after only a couple weeks. I've never experienced this before. I guess I'll switch to another brand or perhaps some other sort of seal-vac bag perhaps.

Leak every time I freeze them

By

from Los Angeles, CA, United States

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

I love Ziploc, I think they're the best bag out there. But every time I put meat or a liquid in the freezer bag and then into the freezer. I always need to put them in a bowl when defrosting in the refrigerator or my fridge will fill up with liquid from the bag. Wish they would fix this

Label area needs to be a square

By

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

Good bag, however they should make the label a square and remove the writing on the label area. We use these bags at an Engineer firm and the reduced label area is not functional.

FAIL!!

By

from Louisville, KY, United States

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

What happened to the quality of ziplock bags? I used to be able to depend on these bags to hold up. This new design for quart bags easily split on the sides when you open them making them useless. I would say at least 50% of the bags did this. That's what I would expect from a cheaper brand, not EXPENSIVE ziplock bags! I won't be buying this brand again.

Tears at the side seams

By

from Austin, TX, United States

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

I am sooooo disappointed with these bags. I am not sure what has changed, but I do know with every single bag the same thing has happened: I take the bag out of fridge/freezer (this morning it was bacon inside the fridge-I use NEW bags everytime- this was NOT reused!) and when I open the seal, the bag tears 1" down the side of the bag, rendering it useless. So, I still have bacon left and I have to get a NEW bag and put it in it because there is no seal anymore. So the bag is useless!

Not satisfied

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

The new tab was a good idea but I have noticed that the sides have been separating after one use. I reuse my bags and have noticed I am throwing more in the trash than not.

Tab rips off. EVERY. TIME.

By

from Orange County, CA, United States

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

We bought a ton of these bags, I think in bulk from CostCo. They seal very well; maybe too well, because after closure, every time I try to open them, whether it be from the colored (blue) tab or the edge, or even carefully try to peel the sides apart at the closure, the plastic above the closure rips apart. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
