I like the trimmer for cutting 3 to 5 pieces of card stock. When I first unwrapped and set up the trimmer I was happy with its sturdiness but the edge that the blade rubs against was not right. I tried to cut about 8 pieces of card stock and the top cut great but the bottom did not cut. I was a little disenchanted . However, to answer this survey, I had to give it another chance. I cut 5 pieces of card stock in the trimmer and they cut smooth as cutting butter. The only thing you must do is hold the paper firmly or the edges will slip and not be evenly cut.

My husband has been drawing as a means of therapy. He has been unable to do work, hobbies, etc. due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident 4 yrs. ago. These drawings are then matted and framed (some). He needed a paper cutter to aid in putting all of this together. Preferably, one that would be straight, square, and smooth functioning. None of those expectations have been met. I would like to return it! Thank you!

Does not cut well

By

from North Delta, BC

Comments about Swingline GTII Heavy-Duty 15"" Paper Cutter:

Initially this trimmer would make clean cuts and would cut through many pieces of paper at once. Now it doesn't cut straight, cleanly, or more than one paper at a time. Really frustrated as this was an investment for our non-profit organization and we cannot afford very much.

Will not cut straight

By

from Lebanon, PA

Comments about Swingline GTII Heavy-Duty 15"" Paper Cutter:

I bought this to cut paper for origami (which needs very precise right angles), but have not been able to cut a single straight edge. I've used a right angle to try and find the problem, and the cutting surface appears to be at an imperfect angle to the blade. Results in cuts that are about 1/16" off-square. Very unhappy with the inaccuracy...

Wish I could send it back!

Comments about Swingline GTII Heavy-Duty 15"" Paper Cutter:

I bought the swingline classicut Pro Series 15" Paper Trimmer in October. I wish I could return it to the store but the time has expired. It has never cut well. It rips the paper half the time instead of cutting it. The feet under the cutter are constantly coming off and today the safety mechanism that locks the blade broke off.

This product does not cut properly!

By

from Wausau, WI, USA

Comments about Swingline GTII Heavy-Duty 15"" Paper Cutter:

I would not recommend this product to anyone. Swingline used to make the best cutters. I was sorry to see the one I had for 35 years go. The new Classic Cut paper cutter does not cut properly. If you have something that is about 4" long it will cut well. If you try to cut a piece of paper, it shreds part of the paper!

My mother bought this product several years ago, and even though there are small kinks it's still a pretty good cutter.

Comments about Swingline GTII Heavy-Duty 15"" Paper Cutter:

You just have to know how to use it. You kinda have to press the blade inward to get a clean cut, but it's not a real problem for me. I have cut a lot of paper because I do origami/paper crafts occasionally and that requires tons of paper of a certain size. Also i may have a project every now and then and this is pretty helpful when i need to cut things out to put on a board. Because it's so old it does mess up sometimes, im guessing the blade isnt as good as it used to be, but I can always get another. I'll try more of your cutters soon.

It does not cut straight.

By

from Michigan

Comments about Swingline GTII Heavy-Duty 15"" Paper Cutter:

I cannot for the life of me get a straight cut from this tool. If I cut for a 7 inch wide piece the bottom of the piece will be 6 and 3/4 inches. It is totally unreliable and unusable and has not met my expectations. It now sits on the desk collecting dust.

does not cut- tears paper

By

Comments about Swingline GTII Heavy-Duty 15"" Paper Cutter:

if you are only cutting 5 sheets or less at a time- you will be disappointed in this product. Near the end of the cut it wil fold and tear your sheets.

Comments about Swingline GTII Heavy-Duty 15"" Paper Cutter:

I love this trimmer, big enough to do large amount of papers. It keeps the paper flat so cut is even with many papers needing to be trimmed/cut.

Great Product

Comments about Swingline GTII Heavy-Duty 15"" Paper Cutter:

This has been an awesome trimmer. I mostly use it to cut coated steel. We have had it for almost a year with no blade changes. And still cuts paper with no problem. Very sturdy product, I prefer wood base only. Thanks

It Cuts So Smooth!

By

from Pensacola, FL, USA

Comments about Swingline GTII Heavy-Duty 15"" Paper Cutter:

I really enjoy my "upgrade" to the Ingento 18' cutter. It is such a smooth cut! My 12' trimmer did not have replacement parts & was really ripping when I tried to use it. It was suggested to try this Ingento series & I am very happy I did!!

  • Q:

I have read some reviews on some of he Swingline paper trimmers on other sites and some have said there is a gap between the blade and the edge of the cutter base making it difficult to get a clean cut. Can you tell me if it is a good close fit?
    Thanks.
