Great Case (with Suggestions)

from Boston, MA, United States

Comments about Kensington Rugged Carry Case & Stand for iPad Air, Charcoal:

I am an elementary art teacher implementing a grant to use 6 iPads in my art room. Children from K-5th have used the iPads in these cases. (I teach about 500 children a week.) They have so far been sturdy (I love the feel - very solid) - The students love how easy they are to carry, and also appreciate the handle which flips up to a stand. (That being said, I also do not allow the youngest students to carry the iPads, and have clear rules on where and how they should be used.) eg, on one table all together, not near water.) I have a concern about how much some students flick the handle back and forth. The students who are "fidgeters" - they will move it back and forth, back and forth, while also working. It is hard to stay on top of that while also working with the rest of the class (with two or three lessons going on at once.) it would be great if the handle could "click" into place. It would also be helpful if there was a way to have the pad flip up vertically as well. I have a couple of apps that require vertical use, and have taken to using erasers (the large pink ones) as a wedge to prop up the iPads in that direction. Regarding packaging; it is not intuitive at all when first unpacking - there is a rigid black frame that needs to be removed first, and that is not in the instructions. I thought it was part of the holder (and I am very tech savvy.) I had to call to make sure before I removed it, as it was challenging to do, and I did not want to break a stand. A "how to" short video posted online, including the removing of this packaging, would be helpful. Last, to the teachers out there considering these, consider the color which will allow you to label the iPad more easily. I recommend the blueberry with the yellow handles. I was able to label the different iPads this way with Sharpie right on the yellow handles. (It would be impossible to do this with the black covers, unless you used a silver Sharpie.) Overall, I give these a "two thumbs up" - I hope that my suggestions are considered. Thank you! (I tried to add a photo, but there is an issue uploading.)

Disappointed for the price!!!

from Queens, NY, United States

Comments about Kensington Rugged Carry Case & Stand for iPad Air, Charcoal:

Great company but the SafeGrip is a disappointment! First off, for the price you would expect to have the "kid stylus" included, it would complete the item. The case is for kids! The overall casing for the iPad isn't bad considering its made out of foam. But the handle part could have been made out plastic to make it more durable. Right out of the box, with the iPad inside, it swings back and forth when you carry it. Maybe if it were stiffer with some sort of locking feature when its up and down, would have been better. If you apply pressure to the handle, you can see a gap immediatley between the case and handle. The stand aspect of the design isn't so great cause unless you apply a pressure making sure its all the way back, the iPad falls forward. Its pretty flimsy for the price though the other Kensington products are great.
