Tripp Lite Self-Contained Portable Air Conditioning Unit for Servers, 120V - The SRCOOL12K portable air conditioning unit pumps 12,000 BTU of cooling power into your IT environment to prevent shutdowns, malfunctions and failures caused by overheating or fluctuating temperatures. Part of the SRCOOL® line, this compact, portable unit is perfect for server rooms and other IT environments with heat-sensitive equipment in areas that facility air conditioning can’t reach. The self-contained SRCOOL12K is capable of cooling a small room using its louvered vent. A built-in evaporator expels the condensed water through the directional exhaust duct, eliminating the need for a drain tube, drain pan or water collection tank. You can also use the included flexible tube to aim the cold air precisely where it’s needed most, such as an overheated rack enclosure or an equipment hot spot. The SRCOOL12K also dehumidifies and filters the air, providing better air quality that can enhance equipment performance with little power consumption. Designed for quick, simple installation, the SRCOOL12K rolls into place on durable built-in casters and plugs into a standard 15-amp outlet. It’s programmed to restart automatically after power failures, and you can set the built-in timer for unattended shutdown and startup.

  • Provides 12,000 BTU/h (3.5 kW) of cooling capacity in a portable chassis.
  • Compact, portable, self-contained design.
  • Included 71-inch tube aims cold air where it’s needed, such as an overheated rack enclosure or equipment hot spot.
  • Output can be precisely directed or used for general room cooling.
  • Built-in timer and auto-restart.
  • Plugs into a standard 15-amp outlet (NEMA 5-15R).

I have an 8x24' office where I have 4 servers and other equipment rack mounted. The temperature was consistently over 83*F. I installed the SRCOOL12K near the rack and exhausted it through the drop ceiling to an open shop area. The temp now is 74*F. Plus I notice a difference in air quality. Great product

Great for server room UPS

By

from New Orleans, LA

Verified Buyer

Comments about Tripp Lite Self-Contained Portable Air Conditioning Unit for Servers, 120V:

We have a large UPS that was overheating our server room despite the large split HVAC that was sized for the room. We were able to eliminate the heat issue by giving the UPS its own cooling unit, blowing cold air directly into it. Venting the heat through the dropped ceiling helped considerably. We also purchased the remote monitor.

Tiny but powerfull

By

from South Florida

Comments about Tripp Lite Self-Contained Portable Air Conditioning Unit for Servers, 120V:

I have the SRCOOL12K next to my Server rack to add supplement cooling power to the server room.
It was a breeze to install and get positioned into place to provide the maximum chill to the room, keeps the room a crisp 60 at all times, even in this horrible Florida heat.

Florida Garage

Comments about Tripp Lite Self-Contained Portable Air Conditioning Unit for Servers, 120V:

I give this AC 4 stars only because it goes together so easy with the included intake and exhaust pipe, but with off-the-shelf tubing, it is a little cumbersome.

It is keeping my 700 Sq Ft. Florida garage at 85F, its 100F outside, I have 3 refrigerators fighting the AC. I'm happy!

SRCOOL12k

By

from Addison, Texas

Comments about Tripp Lite Self-Contained Portable Air Conditioning Unit for Servers, 120V:

We purchased this portable unit as a supplemental A/C to our small Data Center's main unit. As we grew we realized we had out grown the cooling capacity of our main above ceiling mounted Leibert unit. This was the perfect unit to keep our DC cool during the summer months.

It was really easy to setup and really does a great job of supplementing our main unit. It's quiet and programmable so that it's not cooling when not needed. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a portable AC solution. Great product.

First Rate.

Comments about Tripp Lite Self-Contained Portable Air Conditioning Unit for Servers, 120V:

Used to replace a through-the-wall type air conditioner, my new Tripp-Lite is far more quiet, more effective in cooling the area than the 15,000 BTU unit that it replaced, And, it provides control and air direction options that give user choices that are very helpful. I am using the unit in a domestic environment where it has proven to be far superior in every way to other portable units that I have previously bought. I consider it entirly suitable for domestic use. Having been successful in keeping us cool through a long patch of record setting hot weather, it has proved highly efficient and effective. I have already recommended it to others and I may buy additional units for myself.

Comments about Tripp Lite Self-Contained Portable Air Conditioning Unit for Servers, 120V:

Set this up in a small IT closet. Does a fantastic job cooling, much better than any "consumer" grade unit would do. Easy to set up and very reliable. Moves a lot of air and provides a lot of cooling. Would certainly buy this again.

Great product!

By

from Dallas-Fort Worth, TX

Verified Buyer

Comments about Tripp Lite Self-Contained Portable Air Conditioning Unit for Servers, 120V:

(2) units were purchased to cool a 15' x 15' server room and both units have been running for 2-1/2 years without issue. The hot air discharge can be vented above the ceiling tiles in a drop ceiling, the units do not create water, they are portable and can keep a consistent temperature at 67 degrees. The only required maintenance is cleaning the air filters each month. (2) additional units were purchased recently to cool training rooms 14' x 20' and 18' x 22' with (5) computers in each rack.

So far so good. Very powerful

By

Comments about Tripp Lite Self-Contained Portable Air Conditioning Unit for Servers, 120V:

It may be too early to write this review, because its important to see how durable and how long this nice unit lasts. Its very easy to set up, it has a small footprint for a 1 ton unit, and it really does blow out powerful, cold air. So, thus far, i love it. It is supposed to be able to run 24x7 inside computer server rooms all day and night. I dont run it at night at all for my purposes, as im using it to just cool a peice of equipment only during the day, as we shut the equipment off all night. So, im expecting for this unit to last a long time, and it should be well built. I love that it doesnt need a water tray to be emptied, or drainage system to get rid of the condensation and evaporation. It is a self contained unit. Thats great. Its a quality looking machine, so i feel comfortable putting it anywhere. Ive read almost all the reviews on this portable AC, from different sites, and it mainly got good reviews. However, the one major complaint was that when it was run 24x7, 365 days per year, it dies after about 10 months. AC compressors and units arent designed to run all day and night. So, i hope it last a long time, and is built strong enough to last several years. In the small amount of negative reviews that i read, the company was great to deal with, and if it died within the one year warranty, they had no problem sending the customer a brand new unit. I have many other portable ac units that i use for several of my businesses that run hot equipment all day. And, in the first month, this AC seems to be the most powerful cold air portable AC that i have, compared to my other units. I have some other 1 ton, 3/4 ton, and 1/2 ton units, and the blower seems to be more powerful than my others, and the digital buttons are very easy to use. So far after a month of rigorous use, it seems to be a well built, great unit.

Worst portable cooler we've ever used

By

from Denver, CO

Comments about Tripp Lite Self-Contained Portable Air Conditioning Unit for Servers, 120V:

When they work, they're great. We're now on our THIRD unit in less than 2 years, and it's refusing to work now. Our first unit died within 3 months. The replacement they sent was DOA. The replacement for the replacement lasted about 8 months.

Great Server Room Cooling!

By

from Austin, Texas

Comments about Tripp Lite Self-Contained Portable Air Conditioning Unit for Servers, 120V:

I have used a SRCOOL12K unit in my server room for the past 5 years. I just bought a new one and WOW! I really liked my 5 year old unit but really love the new version! Quit, efficient, easy to operate! I don't mean to geek out about it but I have over $150K worth of equipment in the room so this unit serves a very important purpose.

Just what we needed!

By

Comments about Tripp Lite Self-Contained Portable Air Conditioning Unit for Servers, 120V:

It seems like we have the air conditioning go out about once a month and it usually takes two days or longer to get it working again. This Tripp-Lite Portable Air Conditioning keeps my computer room temperature where it needs to be and saves the servers! It's easy to use and operate. I now leave it running all weekend when I am not here to monitor the temp in the computer room. I HIGHLY recommend this unit and I wish I had gotten it two years ago!

Comments about Tripp Lite Self-Contained Portable Air Conditioning Unit for Servers, 120V:

We wish we purchased this sooner.... We invested a lot of time and effort on modifying our HVAC to draw air from our server closet. This unit works very well and helps heat the office in the winter and we have the exhaust discharged outside for the summer.
