Installation of the printer was very esy. The four separate ink cartridges are easy to load and are lasting a long time. Much better than printers that use one cartridge for all the colors. The time it takes to start printing after pressing the print button is only average, but once the printer begins to print it is very fast. Overall quality of the products produced is excellent. Printed pages both black and white and color are very sharp and clear. Scanned images are superior to other all in one printers and the ControlCenter4 app makes it very easy to scan and save to computer files. Customer service is average at best. I called with a question and all the person could do was send me more instructions. Instructions that come with the printer are very basic and do not address any of the apps that are downloaded with the printer.

This printer model is the MFC-J4320DW. I would not recommend buying this. However, the other printer in the Basic Uses Guide is the MFC-J4420DW. I would recommend buying this one has added features that are lacking in one that I purchased. I saw some good and some bad about this printer. Let me start with the bad. This printer does not have a document feeder. I have owned the personal computer since the first IBM Personal Computer came out. I've never had a printer that didn't have a document feeder before. I could have returned the printer to Staples but I didn't have the need to use a document feeder until after the return period expired. I went through the Brother manual for this printer before I purchased it and I read that there was a document feeder. When I discovered there was not a document feeder, I went back and reread the manual. I still read that there was a document feeder. I called tech support and asked them about it. They pointed out to me that the manual was for two printers (which I did know) and that the document feeder was only on the second printer. So I reread the manual again. Sure enough they were right. The problem was that the manner in which the manual was written you had to read very closely to realize what it was really saying. This problem could've been avoided by having a comparison table for the two printers identifying what features were common to both and what features were unique to which printers. Probably a majority of people could have caught the meaning in the manual. The thing is a manual should not be written just for a majority of people but for everyone. I am a senior, senior citizen with ailments that go along with my age. I was an IBM engineer and had a Masters Degree in Engineering so it is most likely that 25 years ago (before I retired) I would have caught the meaning. Now for the good. The most fantastic feature of this printer or the ink tanks. The tanks that came with the printer were only partially full. I didn't expect them to last as long as they did. This week I replaced my first tank, my black ink tank. Was I impressed with the ink tank. You would think that when you have seen one ink tank you have seen them all, but this ink tank is built like a German Panzer tank. You have to see it to believe it. I have a another printer by an different manufacturer and had to replace three ink tanks the day before. I mishandled one and get ink all over my hand. With the Brother ink tank there is little chance of having this problem. The printer does a good job of printing and faxing. Scanning works real well also accept that there is no document feeder you must manually place each page on the glass. I haven't used the Photo Capture feature yet. Very impressive also is the Control Panel. It is easy to use, very intuitive. Too bad that whoever engineered the Control Panel didn't write the manual.

Comments about Brother Business Smart MFC-J4320DW Multifunction Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

To accomplish a fax one can only load ONE sheet at a time which defeats the purpose for the purchase. The other Brother fax machine that finally failed after 8 years of service (MFC-665 CW) Multiple pages to fax just means that I am screwed time wise.

Comments about Brother Business Smart MFC-J4320DW Multifunction Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

So far this is a fine printer. It communicates with my laptop without any issues. Black and white printing is good. Color printing could be better. I'm still playing with some of the settings so maybe I will eventually get a better photo print.

Comments about Brother Business Smart MFC-J4320DW Multifunction Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

Print quality is good. Haven't printed any photos yet, but docs are crisp. Easy setup. Only complaint is that it is noisy. Bought it because of reviews and reasonable ink costs. Haven't figured out the duplex printing feature yet, which I want to use to save paper.

Comments about Brother Business Smart MFC-J4320DW Multifunction Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

Cannot copy 11x17 your description of this copy machine is misleading and very deceiving. I had to drive to Staples to have legal documents copied. Had I known I would never have purchased it.

Comments about Brother Business Smart MFC-J4320DW Multifunction Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

The printer is amazing. I used to have and expensive Epson printer but if you didn't use it everyday the ink nozzles would clog. This printer keeps them clean so no problems with clogging. Also the print quality on photos is excellent even when you use plain paper. Print speed is very good. Will definitely recommend this printer to others and when I need another printer it will be a brother.

Mediocre

By

Comments about Brother Business Smart MFC-J4320DW Multifunction Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

Printing ledger size 11x14 is useless without a ledger size paper tray. Tedious and rarely prints straight which is unfortunate given the cost of inkjet 11x14 paper.

Interesting Printer - 1st Brother Printer

By

from Austin, Texas

Comments about Brother Business Smart MFC-J4320DW Multifunction Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

I love the print quality. Have printed one photo and it is lovely. The separate color cartridges are first time for me. Setup went very smoothly except for finding the USB port in the printer. My old eyes did not see the second section and I kept trying to put usb into fax port. Technician at (unnamed store) showed me the other section and everything works great! Looking forward to trying the 11x17 paper. Have always wanted a printer capable of that paper.

As of now the sprinter is working well. I like the features. It was easy to set up and I received excellet help when I called to seek help with setting my printer wirelessly. I cannot at this time comment on the durability, ink consumption, etc. We have also a Brother Black and White Printer which is very efficient.

a bad purchase

Comments about Brother Business Smart MFC-J4320DW Multifunction Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

I Used a brother printer for many years. It always provided outstanding performance until it just wore out. So I bought another Brother printer expecting the same quality performance. I chose the wrong model. The performance of this printer is haphazard. You need to guess what it is going to do. There are no instructions . Sometimes it doesn't print. Other times it prints only a portion of what you want etc. My tolerance for it is coming to an end soon.

I like it.

Comments about Brother Business Smart MFC-J4320DW Multifunction Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

I have had this printer for about 5 months now. I use it quite a bit and the starter ink is just now needing replacement. Since most brick & mortar stores don't carry the cartridges, they have to be ordered online. You have to stay on top of the ink levels if you don't want to be without a printer for several days. That is the only negative. The printed pages, black and white or color, have been excellent quality. The copier and scanner work great, although I would prefer a little more in the way of options to set up the scan beforehand. I don't use (or need) the fax or any of the other available options.

Comments about Brother Business Smart MFC-J4320DW Multifunction Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

I love this system. It has really made my office more efficient. The only thing I would change would allowing the Automatic Document Feeder to accept more than 1 page at a time. Except for that, it would be perfect.
