Thought I wanted a color laser, but I also have a great EPSON at my office (to print on CD/DVDs) that has never failed me. So when I thought I wanted a color laser, I looked at several brands. Then found this Epson WF Pro 4630 with as-close-to-laser printing as you can get, and if the ink ratings are correct, it will be cheaper to operate than a laser might be. Then when I started to compare higher end ink jets, I seriously considered another brand - but found they don't have a separate back sheet-feed, only the ADF. That was a deal breaker for me. This WF 4630 has everything you could want, and more, and hopefully lower operating costs. Only minor issue so far is lack of documentation re: connectivity. Install CD worked great on various laptops. Not as easy to find how to connect to various tablet / phone devices (current info online not correct for Kindle Fire HD). There is no Epson App in the Kindle Amazon store (even when searching specifically for EPSON) and another printer app found there didn't have this printer listed. Also, according to control panel on printer I have to choose between connecting over Wi-Fi or using Wi-Fi direct. Can't use both at different times. Also have yet to see where it explains how to email to the printer. Found EPSON app fine in Google Play store, and works great with one tablet. My Android phone version of what seems to be the same app however, seems to think there are only 3 types of paper (no plain paper) and since plain is what the printer says it has, my phone won't print. I'll get it straightened out! Print quality is EXCELLENT so far! Hope that the ink holds up and doesn't cost a fortune - but I have NOT run out of the sample ink during set up or playing around printing from various devices. This review is right after registering the device, BTW, so no chance as of yet to talk about ink use or longevity. Hope this is helpful to other who read reviews before purchase, as I do!

WP-4530 still tops it. Runs out of ink too quick!

After buying almost 20 4530 models, I had high expectations for the newest model, the 4630. Unfortunately, it doesn't live up to its billing, because of one major flaw, IT RUNS OUT OF INK too quickly. That's right, it seems as though after only a few hundred pages, printer shows low on ink. The workforce pro 4530 can print three times as many pages, and never break a sweat or show low ink. This is a major flaw. I thought it was only the starter cartridges with the issue, but even the replacements show low in ink way too quickly. I currently am using four of these WF-4630s, and they are all becoming low on ink too quickly. I wanted all the end users to know about this.

Comments about Epson WorkForce 4630 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

I have never had an Epson before. In the last three weeks I took home a total of 4 other brands, all with problems. I was able to set this up by myself. No Geek Squad. Great directions.

Great product!

By

from Bedford, TX, United States

Comments about Epson WorkForce 4630 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

My only two complaints with this product are the USB outlet is extremely touchy leaving this feature one rarely accessible and the touchscreen does not respond to finger touch very well so I have to use a pencil eraser. But, for a Math teacher such as myself, this isn't a big deal because I always have pencils around. LOL Otherwise, everything about this product is a dream come true! The ink efficiency is phenomenal so it has already paid for itself in less than 6 months in ink savings alone. The ink, connectivity, scanning capabilities, and printing are all more reliable than any other printing/scanning device I've had...and I've had a LOT of them! The ink color is more true to screen color than any other printer I've owned as well. And, the best part is how user-friendly it all is!! The touch screen makes everything so simplistic which means time-saving in my life.

Decent printer

By

from Manhattan, NY, United States

Comments about Epson WorkForce 4630 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

I've already have this printer for about 9 months now. The print quality for both text and for color are pretty decent. However, I would have thought that the ink would last a bit longer based on the size of the cartridges it came with.

Disappointed

Comments about Epson WorkForce 4630 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

I got rid of an HP printer with the purpose of buying a higher quality product. The learning curve is steep. Document feeder/rollers have worked poorly. Print for PDF scans is poor.

Solid Performance!

By

from Baltimore, MD

Comments about Epson WorkForce 4630 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

Have used this unit for a couple months now. Although we have an IT Dept., I was able to set it on the network w/o assistance. Have used it outside of the office at a conference and it worked like a charm with WiFi, so set-up is very intuitive. In my office setting-it's mainly a 1-user unit and the only disappointment is the unusual delay in printing once you've queued a job. May be related to our network configuration, so I've learned to overlook that. Otherwise have been quite satisfied with this EPSON product...

0x97 error

By

from Houston, Texas

Comments about Epson WorkForce 4630 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

This is the kiss of death. Printer will not print no matter how many times you turn it on or off. It is a fatal error on this printer. The funny thing is the scanner still works but I can't print a dang thing. Worthless as a brick right now. Please exchange. Epson DO SOMETHING.

Reliable, has helpful features, economical

By

from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Epson WorkForce 4630 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

(1)Good that the WorkForce Pro 4630 does automatic duplexing for both copying and printing. (2)Fairly quiet. (3)Have no landline, so have never used fax. (4) Only quibble: The long and (otherwise) comprehensive list of papers has no mention of LABELS? I didn't find any reference to label printing in the User Manual or on the Printer screen itself. My work-around has been to choose "Card Stock" for mailing labels & paper labels.

Plastic Parts

By

from Lansing, MI

Comments about Epson WorkForce 4630 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

After getting this machine for home use, we found that it was cheap, has alot of plastic parts like trays both front and rear paper trays, does not hold alot of paper and you are always refilling the tray for copying. It jams on pictures from the rear tray.

Will no longer be an Epson printer customer

By

from NC

Comments about Epson WorkForce 4630 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

This printer has performed very poorly from the beginning. Lines and smears are common. I've done all the maintenance and it has never improved the performance. I would avoid this printer. It was a waste. There is a YouTube video of a customer that was so frustrated he used a shotgun to fix it permanently. There were many comments from other users that felt it was the only solution to their problems.

Stay away from this printer!

By

from Crystal Lake, IL

Comments about Epson WorkForce 4630 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

I had to have this printer replaces after 10 months of very light use. It gave a an 0097 error code which apparently is due to a hardware issue. You cannot use 3rd party ink which makes replacement ink very costly. Unlike some of my older Epson printers This printer does not allow you to email directly from the printer. It does not come with a printed manual. Making set up very difficult to do unless you have a computer close by or you want to print a very large manual. I have been a long time Epson printer user. This will be my last one.

EPSON WF4630

By

from San Jose, CA

Comments about Epson WorkForce 4630 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

It a great printer while it works. It broke around 2 years which I think it's a little too soon for a mid size printer. I brought another one to finish up my ink but I don't think I will buy it again after this one. It's used in our retail store so it wasn't use too extensively but did get use a fair amount.

Printer failure

By

from Dallas, TX

Comments about Epson WorkForce 4630 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

I purchased my first WF-4630 three months ago. A few weeks back the printer reported an error and began printing only blank pages. I called tech support who, after helping me troubleshoot the issue for 30 minutes, told me the machine had hardware issues and they would replace it with a new one under warranty. I'm on unit 2. Hopefully, this one lasts longer...

Mac Setup Not Simple

By

from Denver CO

Comments about Epson WorkForce 4630 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

I got it to work, but only after an hour of frustration. 1. There is no instruction anywhere (in the box or in the download) on how to connect to a wireless network. You have to poke around on the printer's control panel. 2. The setup instructions in the dmg package are clear about which Mac printer configuration to use (Bonjour), but you have to wait about 2 minutes for the printer to appear in the Bonjour menu. This delay is not documented ... 3. DON'T CHANGE THE NAME OF THE PRINTER! The setup utility could not find my personalized printer name. Use the default. 4. After getting it to work with one MacBook Pro (OS-X 10.10), I tried installing it on a second MBP. The download (dmg) for Mac OS-X v. 10.7 (downloaded separately to, and specifically for, the 2nd MBP and 10.7) did not work. I got an error - when using the dmg and after installing the drivers and "adding" the printer and choosing the Epson drivers. The dmg tries to find the software online and download it from Apple, except I just downloaded it from Epson. Result: I got an error that the "driver software does not exist. Contact the manufacturer." So I deleted the download and started over. This time the printer drivers did load, and the printer was added to System Preferences -- but the installer package INCORRECTLY stated that installation was incomplete ("you did not select the Epson printer drivers; would you like to return to the previous page?"). But I hit the "continue" button and I can print at last. A long and tedious path for something that should be simple. BTW: Epson provides support only via email - there is no phone number to call.

Too many little issues

By

from Surrey, BC

Comments about Epson WorkForce 4630 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

Never had an Epson before, not sure I would buy another one. Too many little issues to deal with you're using it for business. 1-first machine I purchased the print head went on it 32 days after purchase. 2-continually having to wipe down screen because lines appear on scans. 3-scanner decides it's not going to work. First thing in the morning it says warming up or busy. Usually have to wait 15 minutes then turn it off and on again. During the day it seems like every time you need to use it this warning appears. 4-after 5-6 scans it stops due to phantom paper jam. Never had a paper jam yet. 5-too many steps to do just to scan. These issues are a nuisance and time consuming.

Quite happy with this printer.

By

from Scranton, pa

Comments about Epson WorkForce 4630 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

I just purchased and set up this printer today so I can't speak to its longevity but I will say the print quality is great and print time is fast. Also, and most important to me, is the software set up. I followed the software's simple instructions and Can now wirelessly print from all my devices. Both Apple and Windows based. Exactly what I was looking for. Great value for the money .
