The SC P600 is my third wide Epson printer. Each one has been a great printer and each new printer has been an improvement over the previous one. The SC P600 is no exception. After setting up the P600, I calibrated my monitor and did a printer calibration. After I started making prints of pictures I had printed on the old printer (a R1900), I noticed some very subtle but significant differences in the prints. Prints that previously appeared to be high contrast now appeared to have less contrast but also had a much improved tonal range. These tones match my monitor much better. I went back to some pictures that I had a really hard time printing on my old R1900. One was a picture of the famous tower in the town center in Bruges Belgium. The picture was shot at night with a full moon behind it illuminating a sky filled with puffy clouds. Even after using Photoshop, I could not get a print that faithfully reproduced the clouds on my R1900. Printing the same picture with minimal adjustments from Lightroom on the P600, the picture (and clouds) came out exactly as they were displayed on my high end monitor. Another picture was taken in the interior of a church in Prague. Literally the lighting at floor level had the impression of being only a few lumens. The picture was a real study in lighting, from the indirect light streaming through the windows near the roof, to the artificial lighting coming from the alcoves, to the really dim light on the floor. The colors of benches and tapestries were rather nondescript when printed on the R1900 but on the P600, the vibrancy really came out and the detail on the back of the pews showed the real detail of the wood. The print captured the lighting perfectly. What really sold me on the printer was a picture I took along one of the canals in Venice. One of the buildings had green shutters. On the P1900, the green was again rather nondescript. On the P600, the greens really showed the very subtle shades of green. The print made on the old P1900 was great but the print made on the P600 was even better. Epson has always made great printers and they really shine in reproducing bright colors. But the P600 takes it to a new level in accurately reproducing the pastels and more muted colors. I attribute this to the three variants of black inks and the two variants of cyan and magenta. The use of lighter variants of inks makes it possible to more reproduce a wider gamut of colors. In printing, it has always been a challenge to get prints that accurately reflect what is seen on the monitor. With the SureColor P600, I can finally say that my prints come as close as humanly possible matching the colors I see on my monitor. I can truthfully say that the SureColor P600 is the best printer I have owned.

Just over a year and ink heads clogged.

By

from Los Angeles, CA, United States

Comments about Epson SureColor P600 Wide-Format Inkjet Printer:

I replace my R2400 with this printer and had just over a year and now all the print heads are clogged beyond multiple cleanings... 14 and counting. UGH. Waste of ink and good paper. Not a fan of this printer.

Fabulous Color and Details

By

from Virginia Beach, VA

Comments about Epson SureColor P600 Wide-Format Inkjet Printer:

My photographic art really stands out when printed on the heavy fine art paper. It looks hand painted rather than printed. The colors are a perfect match to my iMAC monitor and required no adjustments. The printer itself has a screen that seems fairly intuitive to set up the printing parameters. Initially it required some getting used to but any new product requires a learning curve. Since printing my artwork with the Epson P600, I have had more people stopping to look at my gallery wall. Sales have increased with the eye-popping results. With superb inks producing perfect colors and details, I know this printer is always going to make me smile with the results. Thank you, Epson!

Great Printer for me as a newbie

By

from NY

Comments about Epson SureColor P600 Wide-Format Inkjet Printer:

I was a photographer for 20 yrs before becoming a teacher. I got this to work on museum quality prints of some of my older images in both b&w and color. I'm getting excellent results on different papers as I experiment. The printer worked right away with my Mac Mini and home wifi network. It's really easy to setup and use. No cons come to mind.

Colorful excitement

By

from Las Vegas, NV

Comments about Epson SureColor P600 Wide-Format Inkjet Printer:

This printer is very good and appears to be much better than my previous Epson printer. The handling of rolled paper is a plus and making a panoramic photo was a breeze. It's usually used for high quality portrait prints and it takes on that task exceptionally well. If you don't need anything over a 13" platen then this is a great price for a great printer.

P600 Wide Format

By

from Grafton, WV

Comments about Epson SureColor P600 Wide-Format Inkjet Printer:

Impeccable quality, easy to use. Very disappointed with ink usage. Very expensive to operate. I had an Epson 2200 wide format printer before P600. 2200 ink cartridges were about half the size and last twice as long.

Out Of Gamut No More

By

from New York, NY

Comments about Epson SureColor P600 Wide-Format Inkjet Printer:

I had a number of portraits of a very famous NYC abstract expressionist painter that I could not get to print without massive amounts of out-of-gamut portions. I tried many times to de-saturate areas, use different rendering intents, etc. and nothing worked. Then, after 5 years with the Epson R3000, I moved up to the SureColor P600. Well, those portraits printed on the P600 first time without any adjustments necessary. To say I was happy is a major understatement. The increased range of tonality and color is fantastic........ I recommend this printer to everyone.............

Better than the last one

By

from Valley Forge, PA

Comments about Epson SureColor P600 Wide-Format Inkjet Printer:

Epson earned its way onto my can't-live-without-one list by simply making products that do both an excellent job and keep doing it for years. Starting with my old Epson LQ570 dot matrix printer over 20 years ago, and coming all the way to the R2400 photo printer that the new P600 replaced, I have never had a problem and they just never quit. As for the P600, its photos are excellent. The improvement over the R2400, which was great, is demonstrable. The results with different paper brands are really good, better than the R2400 even with custom ICC profiles. At first I thought the P600 was slower than my R2400, but the problem was with my computer interface. Once we cleaned that up, the issue was gone.

Great Product

By

from Toronto, Canada

Comments about Epson SureColor P600 Wide-Format Inkjet Printer:

You can definitely tell Epson takes care in creating a great product. Obviously made from plastic, but they took extra care to make sure each piece doesn't break easily and especially love that the input/output doors don't slam if you let go which used to happen all the time for me.

Have to learn settings to print great looking pic/

By

from New York

Comments about Epson SureColor P600 Wide-Format Inkjet Printer:

Printer is 1 and 1/2 years old, it can print some great looking photos, and the key is setting the various steps and knowing what settings for the various papers. Once you do, it does a good job. The art papers can give you trouble loading from the front loader as it can skew them going in and will make you reload. If there is any problem, it is the front loading paper handling. Sheet feeder works just fine. Ink is too expensive. This replaced a R3000 that failed, hope this one lasts longer than the R3000.

very pleased with the P600

By

from WI

Comments about Epson SureColor P600 Wide-Format Inkjet Printer:

My P600 replaced a Canon Pro100. I have printed on 3 types of paper and have never been happier with the results. The printer seems a little slow and the changing of the black ink cartridges when you switch from a glossy to a matte paper takes some time but it is well worth the wait. The black ink changes within the printer, nothing to do manually.

Installation of P600

By

from Colorado

Comments about Epson SureColor P600 Wide-Format Inkjet Printer:

Replaced my R1900 with the P600. Installation was a breeze. I suspect that is true because of the steep learning curve I climbed with the R1900. I simply applied my favorite settings from the old printer to the new and am thrilled with the results.

Epson Printer P600

By

from Houston, TX

Comments about Epson SureColor P600 Wide-Format Inkjet Printer:

I have always used Epson printers, and when the Epson R2880 finally "died", I bought the P600. This printer is similar to my previous one, except for the Photo Black. I never use Photo Black - only Matte Black even though I am a photographer. So, each time I print anything I have to check to see if the printer has changed my setting from Matte Black to Photo Black. And, if I overlook this step the machine tries to switch over to Photo Black. Also, the cost of ink is quite expensive! I do a lot of printing and ink is used rapidly. Otherwise, the quality of prints is excellent, and I think Epson products are great - that includes the Matte Presentation paper - Double sided as well.

Easy to get started--NO

By

from Bluffton, SC

Comments about Epson SureColor P600 Wide-Format Inkjet Printer:

The printer arrived in a big box and there are various things to read. I sort of worked my way through them. Then I wanted to set up my printer. I looked for that page that lays it out 1, 2, 3 like over-sized sheet. That sheet tells me to use the User's Guide. I did. Not a word there about how to install drivers. So I went to the downloaded manual. After a half-hour I stumbled on a file with the different color ink files called "Set-up." I didn't trust that it would do what I wanted, but after looking elsewhere it seemed to be what I wanted. YES. Finally the drivers got installed and all is well. So far I do not like this printer and I will hold on to the box it came in just in case.

Have just installed ...

By

from Orange, CT

Comments about Epson SureColor P600 Wide-Format Inkjet Printer:

Have just installed SureColor P600. The total time was about 30 minutes. Have tried using the Printer for letters and several photos. All were excellent. The letters were on Epson Bright White and the photos were on Epson Premium Luster. The Viewing window give an very good indication of what is being printed and the levels of the inks. At the present time I would recommend this printer.

Roll printing a joke

By

from Portland, OR, USA

Comments about Epson SureColor P600 Wide-Format Inkjet Printer:

I've been printing my portfolios on Epson printers for over 16 years. I've more or less loved every printer I've owned until this one. It seemed that this 'upgrade' would allow me to continue printing with my same workflow, printing almost always on roll paper, just with the latest Epson printing technologies. Turns out the roll printing capabilities of this printer are a complete joke. There's only one roll paper option and it only comes on a small core, which causes prints to roll up into useless little scrolls. If I were going back to the dark ages and making scrolls I would love this printer but for modern day purposes I'm finding it to be pretty useless. The print quality is very nice, I'll give them that much.

P600

By

from Dallas, TX

Comments about Epson SureColor P600 Wide-Format Inkjet Printer:

This is my 3rd Epson printer, the first was a consumer multi task printer. The second was the Photo 2200. I loved the 2200 but finally wore it out, btw it paid for itself on first use. Before buying the P600 I did a lot of research, criticism was out there that it was slow, that is completely false. These newer generation of printers are way faster than older pro models. Quality is excellent on all material I have tested so far, and quiet. I really like the way it has folding feed and exit chutes the seal it up from dust when not in use. This was a problem on older models. I highly recommend this printer. I have done professional photography for 35 + yrs
