Once installed, the ColorQube 8580 printer produces very fine output. It took awhile to succeed for a usb installation. After many attempts I finally succeeded. I could not download the required drivers, but, after deleting those attempts I succeeded with a usb installation from the cd. I could not install on a local network, but that had more to do with my lack of knowledge about networks. It would be helpful if Xerox provided an automatic process for a network installation. Nevertheless, the usb installation produces excellent output. The duplex printing reduces paper useage by almost 50%. It could be a bit quieter. I don't know yet how long the solid ink supply will last. If it is anywhere near what Xerox claims, the operational costs will be substantially less than the laser or ink jet costs of most any other printers. Using the duplex capability, It is now much more feasible to print out large documents such as user manuals.

I bought two colorqube 8580 a year ago. Since Xerox have bought out their clone ink competitors the price of inks have sky rocketed making it time consuming and difficult to source economically. But my main issue is with the incredible unreliability, despite owning two of them, we have often had to go back to an old inkjet backup, literally at times we have had both awaiting a warranty service visit for different reasons. Despite very low use each have had three or four visits, we are now out of warranty and they are both playing up again, we are now facing having to pay for warranties to continue trying to keep them working. Xerox representatives have fobbed us off with saying they no longer able to support us under warrantee. We are on our own! I have been a very enthusiastic about the wax concept and many have been sold off my recommendation, currently they are expensive, slow, unreliable and time consuming to run and would not advocate purchasing them. We have run several 8520 in the past and a very high maintenance C2424 that have has so many parts fitted over the last five years its almost another machine. Triggers broom comes to mind.

Total disappointment with ColorQube 8580/DN

By

from Chapel Hill, NC

Comments about Xerox ColorQube 8580/N Solid Ink Color Printer:

Our institution purchased this ColorQube 8580\DN last year. Ever since, we had one problem after another. A Xerox service technician came out to fix the problem during the one year warranty. After that, the extended warranty that was purchased from a third party was used to make other repairs throughout the year. This year, the print head stopped working. The costs to replace the part and the labor would have been more than what the printer costed. We are disappointed with the quality of this product. Buying a Xerox product used to make you feel that you're buying a high quality, durable product. Unfortunately, this product isn't it. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Fantastic product

Comments about Xerox ColorQube 8580/N Solid Ink Color Printer:

This is the first laser printer I've had and the comparison on doc quality is abundantly evident both in image and text. The best is the 50cppm it delivers on. As we move our business onward and upward, while progressively optimizing our list of commercial priorities, this printer effectively brought 90% of our printed material needs in house providing a 70% reduction in cost while the quality was not compromised in any way. Glad we made the double switch (L/jet to laser, outsourcing to in house capable)

Love the Xerox Solid Ink Printers

By

from Maplewood, MN

Comments about Xerox ColorQube 8580/N Solid Ink Color Printer:

I've had Xerox solid ink printers dating back to the 860 and I really love them. When it came time to replace my 8200, I naturally looked to Xerox for a solution. We purchased the ColorQube 8580 and are very happy with the features. The colors are vibrant, the print quality is excellent and the printer tackles projects with speed and accuracy across a network. As a professional photographer, I require my printed brochures to reflect my product accurately. The Color Qube 8580 does the job quite well!

Great printer

By

from North Carolina

Comments about Xerox ColorQube 8580/N Solid Ink Color Printer:

This is our 4th solid ink Xerox Phaser, going all the way back to the 850, in 2000. Like any high tech electronic devise it will at some point need some maintenance and or service. I strongly suggest an extended yearly warranty. Xerox service is the best. Print quality is excellent, but do not think it will copy colors exactly as are on the monitor, this is due mainly to the monitor and not the printer. Yes ink is expensive but per copy cost is lower then lesser quality printers. Xerox has always had exceptional service and continues to do so. If you follow what I have stated then you can't go wrong with the 8580 Phaser.

Great print quality, but can be noisy.

By

from Kansas

Comments about Xerox ColorQube 8580/N Solid Ink Color Printer:

When my ColorQube 8570 quit working, I upgraded to a ColorQube 8580 since I had lots of unused ink. If my old printer would have still printed I could have printed a startup page and gotten a nice rebate on a new machine, but since it no longer would print - no rebate. This does not make sense - why would I replace my printer if it was still printing? The main issue I did not like was the noise of the 8570. I always had to put it on sleep mode to quiet it, then it took awhile to warm up. Reviews sounded like problem fixed in 8580. As long as bypass not used, it is very quiet, which is very nice. When bypass is used, it is very loud - like a grinding sound. This continues for a few minutes after printing is done. I use the bypass to print checks and I seldom print one check at a time because of the noise. I wait till I have a bunch of checks - then leave the room!

Perfect Printer

By

Comments about Xerox ColorQube 8580/N Solid Ink Color Printer:

This is the best Printer I have owned. I have had many Epson and HP Printers but by far this Xerox colorcube is the best. You cannot beat the speed and quality of this printer. I have many applications to print everyday and this printer has saved me an enormous amount of time AND money. I have already recommended this printer and two of my colleagues are in the process of buying. I will keep spreading the word. Dennis Browne

It has it's ups & downs

By

from Arlington, VA, USA

Comments about Xerox ColorQube 8580/N Solid Ink Color Printer:

I like this product, but then I found I was not able to print borderless prints. I tries & tried and found it was not an option for this particular series, which I really needed. Overall, it was easy to use, print quality was fine cause there was some light streaks within my prints. Speed was fine.

Love the new printer

Comments about Xerox ColorQube 8580/N Solid Ink Color Printer:

This printer warms up much faster and was just so very easy to set up. We do a lot of printing for our customers, including flyers, cards, envelopes. And the envelope feed is much faster and smoother than the older model we were using. I have been using the Xerox color cube printers for 10 years and would have nothing else

Careful consideration required

By

from Miami

Comments about Xerox ColorQube 8580/N Solid Ink Color Printer:

THE GOOD: > Xerox quality. Always good. > Xerox service. Always excellent > Ink sticks replacement price cheaper than Xerox powder toner. > Print quality sharp. > Duplex (double-sided) printing works well (on the D/N model). THE BAD: > Ink sticks are waxy; if you print papers and then leave them in a warm environment (hot car) the ink may run or bleed through the paper, and multiple sheets of a printed document may stick together. > Printer goes to sleep if not used often; in that case first page takes forever to print. Printer has to wake up and takes a looong time to heat up the ink sticks enough to melt them for the printing task to begin. Subsequent copies are reasonably fast though.

Some good, and some bad.

By

from Floriduh

Comments about Xerox ColorQube 8580/N Solid Ink Color Printer:

Print quality is magnificent -- employs stochastic tech. Colors are rich even on 20# bond. Warm-up time for printing is too long -- even when leaving the machine on 24/7 to keep the "ink" in a molten state. And the fumes are starting to become a problem.

Beautiful color

By

from Georgia

Comments about Xerox ColorQube 8580/N Solid Ink Color Printer:

The print quality is beautiful, vibrant and perfect. VERY impressive for posters, our church bulletins, and logos. The speed is a little slow because it has to warm up. The only a couple of negatives - one is that we are going through the color cubes pretty fast compared to the dry toner printers. And, secondly, they are very expensive and not found on shelves of our 2 local stores so I have to order online. Would I purchase it again? YES, but keep it for posters or anything with a lot of color then buy a something for everyday b/w around the office paperwork.

Cheap plastic

By

from Arizona

Comments about Xerox ColorQube 8580/N Solid Ink Color Printer:

Purchased in Jan 2016. Delivery was good. Packaging good, But the product does NOT live up to the name XEROX. When I decided to try single sheet using TRAY 1, got a message PAPER JAM OPEN TO CLEAR... Open what??? I thought to open Door "A", but when it opened, the handle "A" fell off. I found where it was from, and replaced, but there was something amiss. The door would not latch, and had to tape it shut. The cheap plastic has many very sharp edges and corners that will cut fingers, and hands, if not aware. I stopped the blood flow. The print quality is excellent, but is very slow in deciding what to do. Flips and flops and grinding noises, then suddenly a full sheet is printed, front and back in one or two seconds, Additional pages follow equally fast. Color prints are excellent with vibrant color, and high resolution. Don't expect simplicity. With 188 pages of instructions, good luck.

Just buy it - Most ink efficient printer I have ever purchased!

By

from Dothan, Alabama

Comments about Xerox ColorQube 8580/N Solid Ink Color Printer:

I don't normally take the time to write online reviews but this printer deserves a few minutes of my time. I previously suffered through 3 years with a horrible Brother printer. I purchased 2 but had 5 total as those two had to be replaced 3 times all together and they were ink hogs on top of that. I read the reviews for this printer and decided to take a chance and I AM IN LOVE! We print approximately 5,000-10,000 sheets a month and used to go through enormous amounts of ink cartridges along the way. This printer barely uses these amazing little ink cubes and the print quality is excellent, vibrant colors etc. I managed to get it setup but had to make one call to Xerox support after that it has been a breeze. I does take a minute to warm up but after it is a work horse. If you are tired of massive ink bills and poor print quality, I would definitely suggest this printer.
