I have no problems with feedback or any kind of noises with Plantronics headset. I have tried several brands and either I can't hear the callers well or they can't hear me. I have no problem with that with the Plantronics headset. However, I do have problems with the headband itself snapping into. I use this headset for work and I have to have a headset due to talking and writing/typing during the phone conversation. I am on my third headset for one year BUT so far Plantronics has been great about replacing the headset due to the one year warranty.

I bought the 214 from a local office supply store because I could not find the better version (175c) anywhere and saw it was discontinued online. What an utter disappointment. PROS - None really CONS - Mute button is not easy to find or use in a hurry (say a sneeze or cough). - Constant crackling sound just from the cord slightly moving. - Incoming volume level is nowhere near as high, even at max volume (I tested it versus my 175c that is becoming useless after 3 years due to cable fatigue) - Listeners complain of voice being too soft on low setting, but almost yelling on high sound setting - Worst of all, the designer of the packaging must not know much about cable fatigue. The cable coming out of the mute switch is bent 180 degrees right at the connection point. You can already tell there is fatigue in the cable from this and I am willing to bet it won't last three months. Cables are almost always the weakest link in this type of headset and when you exacerbate that with such an easy to spot packaging issue, well .. I just have to believe you don't want them to last. The only good thing about this headset is that it might give me three months to figure out something else. Plantronics OWNED the 2.5mm cordless landline phone headset market and they basically just let us all down. I have found some 2.5mm adapters that fit the better Plantronics 'Quick Disconnect' headphones and I have so much respect for Plantronics that I might try one of those, but I am very disappointed in their decision to get rid of the best headset I think they have ever made. Please bring back the 175c, with a bit more durable cabling and I would easily drop twice the money on it than this 214. I give this two stars only because it is still better quality than all the ripoff generics out there that sound like something from a kids toy. I would give it more if I felt it truly deserved the great Plantronics brand name. Very disappointed.

My go to headset

By

Comments about Plantronics M214C Over-Head Mobile/Cordless Phone Headset:

Sound quality, cost, features, comfort - all first rate. As with most any corded product, years of use can cause the wire connection to fail if your not careful.

Consistent echo; have had to replace 3 times

By

Comments about Plantronics M214C Over-Head Mobile/Cordless Phone Headset:

This is my 3rd time replacing this headset due to an echo. I am giving it 1 star for how lightweight and comfortable it is, but that is all I can say.

misleading packaging

By

from Pleasanton, CA, United States

Comments about Plantronics M214C Over-Head Mobile/Cordless Phone Headset:

Bought this today because the packaging reads "fits most mobile phones". There are no headphone jack dimensions anywhere on the packaging... fools errand. Headphone jack is NOT a standard size. Not sure which mobile phones constitute "most". I suspect they meant "fits nearly no mobile phone in use today".

Happy For The Availability Of This Product

By

Comments about Plantronics M214C Over-Head Mobile/Cordless Phone Headset:

I have been using this product for at least 8 years when I speak on my home phone. The quality of sound is excellent, but the product life span is not very long. I have to replace it every 4-6 months. Since it is the only product I have found that still has a wire to connect it to the phone (ie not blue tooth), I have become quite dependent upon it. Please do not quit manufacturing this product.

    By

Excellent clarity and comfort. However, connection begins to short after about a year of use. Still best wired headset we have found.

    Replaced frequently

    By

    from Saugerties NY

Comments about Plantronics M214C Over-Head Mobile/Cordless Phone Headset:

Sound quality is okay, not great, however I had to replace the headset every few months - it would suddenly fail. Fortunately Plantronics stands behind their products and sent me another headset each time (at least 4!).

    Fair product, abysmal support

    By

    from Portland

Comments about Plantronics M214C Over-Head Mobile/Cordless Phone Headset:

The product seems ok for the price. I was able to try it out by dialing a proprietary number and listening to their menu. That came through clearly. I then tested the microphone by chatting with a relative and asking whether he could hear me clearly. This is the first product I have ever bought that had no owner's manual, not even online. There are vague instructions on the back of the package and I guess that's the owner's manual. That being the case, those instructions could have just as easily been made adequate.

Thought the Plantronics brand was better

    By

    from Atlanta, GA

Comments about Plantronics M214C Over-Head Mobile/Cordless Phone Headset:

Within 1 week of purchase the jack fell apart. I was able to tape it together and eek out another couple months. Finally the headset started to put feedback on the line. I still have if Plantronics wants to replace.

    Poor Microphone

    By

    from Moretown, VT

Comments about Plantronics M214C Over-Head Mobile/Cordless Phone Headset:

The microphone isn't very good. Others on the call with me can barely hear me, however, when I switch to my Plantronic wireless headset they have no issue with hearing my voice (tested while on the same call).

    By

    from Virginia

Comments about Plantronics M214C Over-Head Mobile/Cordless Phone Headset:

The listening volume control just did not have enough range. Wife says take it back as she would be using it for extended talks with friends. Also came with absolutely no instructions.

    Disappointing

    By

    from Mount Royal, QC, CANADA

Comments about Plantronics M214C Over-Head Mobile/Cordless Phone Headset:

Disappointing, at least with VR Tech phones. You hear people well, but they hear you very badly, no matter how high you set the volume.
