I am old enough to remember the days before freezer bags had such tight seals. I know for quite a while in my childhood freezer bags were closed by the metal and paper twistie ties or I even knew a few people who used the wax coated boxes. You can be sure those boxes didn't seal squat out let alone any air. It was not at all uncommon to have items with freezer burn and to open and spill in the freezer. It was just a completely different world. Now today with the tight seal it's SO much better. It's not just for freezing. I wouldn't even know where to begin to list the number of items I have placed in these bags. I just grab for the bags in the pantry and store cake decorating supplies, leftovers, food from open boxes and bags, it just goes on and on and on and that doesn't even include the countless items for 50+ years from every corner of the house and for every use imaginable that I've grabbed Ziploc bags. I learned long long ago that it NEVER pays to try and save a few pennies and purchase unknown brands of much cheaper products. This is definitely one area where you get what you pay for. I've never worried about the bag breaking or having problems. I've used these bags countless times when I've traveled. In my "past life" I traveled every month for my paid employment, for a hobby job on the side, for personal travel, for church and countless other things. I actually had a "to go" bag packed all the time with duplicates of all the toiletries used at home in makeup, haircare, bathing, and so forth. Everything but medication could be duplicated and I stored these items in Ziploc bags. I used the bags for dirty laundry, for unmentionables, for food, you name it. I've stored photographs, important papers, you name it, if it could fit into a size of Ziploc bag, its been in there. The small snack size Ziploc bag was one of the greatest creations the company ever did. That small little size is IMMENSELY useful. Anytime I have a small amount of something to store I find myself reaching for these size bag. I have probably used it for everything BUT snacks. Several years ago my brother gave me the bag sealing machine for Christmas. Once I sat down and figured out how to use it, it's changed my life. I do an INSANELY large amount of baking for others in addition I now must eat gluten free in my life. If you know anyone with Celiac you know they have between 15 and 20 different flours on hand for baking and cooking gluten free. A bad characteristic of many of these flours (since many are based on nuts) is that they go stale or rancid very quickly. I was taught years ago by my mother to store flour and nuts and a vast number of other items in the freezer. The bag sealer has been an God Send for me for freezer storage of these flours both gluten and non-gluten. Whole wheat flour goes rancid 3 times faster than regular AP flour. I keep everything in these bags. Pretzel sticks, crackers, potato chips, cereals, and on and on and on. I don't know what I would do without all of my Ziploc products.

I have used Ziploc Freezer Bags for years and never had a problem... until now. The new Ziploc Freezer Bags with the easy open tabs leak. They will not hold a seal. I have been through a half of a box and have yet to get a good seal and they tear very easily at the top of the bag. This used to be a great product. I would not recommend this product to anyone now. In fact I would recommend not buying it at all now.

Tears at the side seams

By

from Austin, TX, United States

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

I am sooooo disappointed with these bags. I am not sure what has changed, but I do know with every single bag the same thing has happened: I take the bag out of fridge/freezer (this morning it was bacon inside the fridge-I use NEW bags everytime- this was NOT reused!) and when I open the seal, the bag tears 1" down the side of the bag, rendering it useless. So, I still have bacon left and I have to get a NEW bag and put it in it because there is no seal anymore. So the bag is useless!

Not satisfied

By

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

The new tab was a good idea but I have noticed that the sides have been separating after one use. I reuse my bags and have noticed I am throwing more in the trash than not.

Tab rips off. EVERY. TIME.

By

from Orange County, CA, United States

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

We bought a ton of these bags, I think in bulk from CostCo. They seal very well; maybe too well, because after closure, every time I try to open them, whether it be from the colored (blue) tab or the edge, or even carefully try to peel the sides apart at the closure, the plastic above the closure rips apart. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Bags tear & rip

By

from Fort Collins, CO, United States

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

I've been buying Ziplock brand bags for many years, but in the past few years I have noticed a decline in the product. Bags can only be used once and rip at the zipper seams. Have they changed the overall product to save money??

GREAT FEATURES/POOR DESIGN

By

from YONKERS,NY

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

Each bag split at the end of yhe zipper travel were the front & rear walls meet. The walls at this point need to be reinforced by fusing the ends of the zipper guides together. the bags all tear at this point with under filled bags. with one or two uses if the zipper. I have a gentle touch( very little if any pressure is applied on zipper

Bad quality / manufacturing process / cutting corner

By

from Canada

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

As other bad reviews: #1 there's air opening between 1st and 2nd zipper, means that the upper zipper is basically non-functional. #2 the lower zipper to the side of bag is so weak it easily rip wide open. DO NOT BUY. It's worse than no-brand stuff you get from other stores.

New Bags

By

from TN, United States

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

Love the design of the new freezer bags, they are easy to close and open. There is a glitch however, when you pull the two sides apart to open them the one side tears loose, rendering the bag useless. We keep thinking ziploc must know about this major flaw, and have fixed it by now.. We keep buying, but ziploc doesn't fix the problem. So best we tell them. Question: are these bags made in China?

Save Your Money

By

from Butler, GA, United States

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

I wish there was an opportunity to choose no stars in this review. I am completely shocked that the leading company, Ziploc. produced such a terrible product. At first, I thought I purchased a flawed box of Ziploc® Brand Slider Freezer Bags Gallon / Large. However, after the third box, it was far from a charm. The Slider does not stay intact no matter how carefully I zipped bag after bag. Save your money! they are cheaply made and will frustrate you to the highest level of frustration.

Not pleased!

By

from Vermont, United States

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

I placed a opened bag of crackers in the freezer gallon size bag and sealed it. The bag was on the counter, I had 2 bananas sitting on top of the bag for a couple of days. I opened the bag yesterday for a dinner party, the crackers tasted like bananas. How is this possible? The ziploc company advertises, stay fresh. It can't even keep flavored out, how is suppose to keep flavores in? Number stamped on box is P3540602E1003 Look forward to hearing from you

Side seam fails

By

from Colorado springs, CO

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

I've been using ziplock 1 gallon freezer bags for years and never had a problem. The last box I bought every bag has torn down the side seam when I opened it fresh from the box. Did something change or is this just a bad batch?

Bags tear below the "zipper" feature

By

from Chelmsford, MA, United States

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

I've bought cheapo generic brands at a flea market that were better quality than these. Every time I go to open a new bag, the bag itself tears down the sides below the "zipper" area. Such a shame that this company created an easier way to open the bags but took away from the quality of the rest of the product!

Disappointment with quality decline

By

from Sioux Falls, SD, United States

Comments about Ziploc Double Zipper Gallon Size Freezer Bags:

I agree with the other reviewers who have mentioned that ziplock brand bags have declined in quality. They used to be the only brand that I would buy. In the last year, I've had so many tear that I have started shopping around for alternatives.
