I have used command strips for many pictures in my home. The weight of the pictures varies from light canvas squares to heavy wood. All are hanging safely, and I have a heavy collage frame that I occasionally take down to change the pictures. I simply separate the two strips carefully, change the pictures and snap back on. Remember, you must follow the directions on the package. Clean the wall, and the surface of the picture where you will place the stickers, with alcohol, let it dry thoroughly, attach the strips to picture, measure and attach strips to wall, and let the strips on the wall sit and adhere for an hour before hanging the picture. This method is foolproof. The only time a picture fell was when I did not clean the wall with alcohol first. Hope this helps those that are struggling. Be patient and follow the steps.

I bought these after seeing them advertised. They definitely do not perform as described on the packaging. The strips would not adhere to the wall (and I DID clean the wall with alcohol as instructed). After placing the picture on the wall and holding on for the recommended 30 seconds I could see the strips were not adhering so I held on a while longer. Then I tried to remove the picture gently as shown in the package diagram. It was impossible to do this. When I tried the whole picture came off the wall. OK, I said to myself I'll try a new package on a smaller picture. The same thing happened. I am really disgusted and out about $20.

Awful

Comments about Command Large Picture Hanging Strips:

I bought these as they indicated a 12 lb weight. Used these to hang 3, 4 lb framed pictures. Hung 3 tabs on each frame. All fell down within 20 minutes; breaking $40 worth of frames. Dent in my wall...Wasted money on these command picture hanging strips and lost $40 worth of new frames. I can't fathom how 3M's test lab got these to work.

The Strips Failed!

By

from Phoenix, AZ, United States

Comments about Command Large Picture Hanging Strips:

I bought the Large command strips to hold a 6lb picture frame, and put 2 sets of strips on the frame after cleaning the wall and frame of dust etc. The strips held for a few months and then failed, breaking the relatively expensive frame ($80) and damaging the baseboard in my new home as it fell. I am very disappointed and this is the second time this has happened. The first picture I had fail, happened after a few weeks on the wall. I am staying well below the weight limit and securing them correctly, and feel something needs to be done. At least replace the damaged items.

Comments about Command Large Picture Hanging Strips:

Command Strips work wonderfully when the instructions are followed. I used them carelessly and didn't clean the wall and the item fell and removed paint. I cleaned the wall with a household cleaner and the item fell. I clean the wall with rubbing alcohol and allowed it to dry and they have worked better than advertised.

A Horrible Disappointment

By

from Midway, Kentucky

Comments about Command Large Picture Hanging Strips:

As a college student if I wish to decorate at all I am forced to use command strips. Considering my present reputation for having the "Martha Stewart" dorm, decorating is a must.

I have used a variety of products, and have found them hit or miss at best. Let me elaborate. Last year, I bought strips rated up to 6lb. I hung a banner (about 2lb), a stretched canvas (about 6lb) and a wall mirror ( about 10lb). They were great, for the first two days. By the third day, all of the previously mentioned items fell, and the mirror was shattered across my dorm floor. Thanks for the seven years bad luck to start my college career. But after the incident I bought the 12lb strips, and used excessive amounts to finally rehang everything but the now broken mirror.

This year I didn't play around, I bought 12lb strips or better. Today has me fit to be tied. My wall tapestry is hanging perfectly with 8 of the poster strips (yay). My banner, canvas, and picture however (between 2lbs-6lbs) are a far different story. The canvas can still not be hung with four 12lb strips. I've determined that it is a lost cause and I'd spend less putting a nail into my dorm's wall. The banner will not stay up even with four 12lb strips, which is a disappointment as it ties the room together. and The picture, well it hung, but when I decided to move it, the strips ripped the frame apart.

So yes, for certain things and when the sun, moon, and all the planets align, command strips are great. However, the rest of the time I have found them a horrible disappointment.

Great for fastening/mounting plastic to plastic.

By

Comments about Command Large Picture Hanging Strips:

Used these to mount a Leap Motion controller to my HTC Vive headset. Holds strong after pulling it off the headset and clicking it back into place numerous times.
Used the remaining two strips to hold two circuit boards together while providing some separation with the thickness of the strips.

Disappointed!

By

from New York, NY, United States

Comments about Command Large Picture Hanging Strips:

I used to buy a lot of those white hooks and they work fine even after a year or two. I've recently moved to new apartment and bought these black strip for photos. It is suppose to hold up to 16lbs and my photo was less than 3 lbs, I've followed every instruction on it. It works find in the first week and then fell off the table and hit my foot. This is absolutely unacceptable!

Broken Picture Frame

By

from Hampton, VA, United States

Comments about Command Large Picture Hanging Strips:

So I bought my Command strips at Target yesterday and I am very upset. I bought the 16lbs one hoping they would do the job without me damaging my apartment walls.. it worked perfectly the first day . I used four strips on each of my frames and today one shattered all over my carpet today .. I have always used command strips and I was very upset when this happened.. I guess I will have to use nails now so my picture will stay in place..

Broken glass

By

Comments about Command Large Picture Hanging Strips:

I followed directions and applied frame to wall. Less than 24 hours later frame on floor, glass broken, now need to replace 24 hour frame. Don't use if hanging is breakable.

Don't waste your money

By

Comments about Command Large Picture Hanging Strips:

My picture was hanging for approximately 4 months, followed the directions to a tee, and suddenly today the picture came off the wall along with the paint, I thought the idea was to eliminate damage to the wall.

Dont Waste the Money

By

from Wisconsin, United States

Comments about Command Large Picture Hanging Strips:

I bought these strips last weekend to hang a mirror in my daughter's bedroom, just a full length no frame plastic mirror, SO under the weight limit using the 4 strips included in the package. Within hours the mirror fell down, we refastened the strips to the wall again and a few days later again the mirror fell down.

I have tried multiple ...

By

from Cooper City, FL, United States

Comments about Command Large Picture Hanging Strips:

I have tried multiple times to use these to avoid holes in walls since I have been instructed not to put holes in them. Each time I am disappointed, I have spent so much money and now my stuff is breaking. I have weighed my things to make sure they are not too heavy, it doesn't matter, they don't even last a few hours. I have had pictures fall and a small metal rack fall twice now and the last time it broke, I can't even get to my picture because it is behind the tv. Empty walls it is. Be aware this stuff is a rip off, not worth the paper and packaging it is in.

So much for my vintage frames

By

from Derby, KS, United States

Comments about Command Large Picture Hanging Strips:

I created an amazing collage wall from my collection of vintage frames. I followed all instructions because I did not want anything to happen to my collection. Everything was fine for about three months and then they all started falling off. I lost 4 of them before I finally took the whole wall down. It would be fine, except that one of them ripped the paint and plaster from the wall. Now I have to repair the spot and repaint it, plus repair the frame. Awesome. No short cuts people. These things are worthless. Just hammer in a nail.

Broken Frames

By

from NJ

Comments about Command Large Picture Hanging Strips:

This product worked for a while - then all of a sudden all my pictures started dropping from the walls and there was damage to my frames (broken glass, dented rims, scratches, etc) I would not recommend this product - it doesn't last and it costs way more than nails to purchase, not to mention replace all the broken results and the damage to my dry wall after the pictures fell.

Only Thing I Use

By

from Castle Rock, Colorado, United States

Comments about Command Large Picture Hanging Strips:

I use these all of the time, on my whole house! I never have a problem. If something is really heavy then I use traditional anchors which is common sense. These are the best and when in doubt I add an extra one. I wish they came in super large boxes!

Does not remove from wall as advertised!

By

from Undisclosed

Comments about Command Large Picture Hanging Strips:

They hang on the wall, but definitely do not come off cleanly at all as advertised... especially after being on the wall for a while. The pull strips broke easily when trying to remove them!! Had to literally pull them off the wall... damaged walls significantly!

Never again

By

from Northern NJ.

Comments about Command Large Picture Hanging Strips:

My girlfriend bought several packages of command strips and new frames to hang pictures in our new home. We followed the directions. For the first 2 days all was good. Untill the middle of the night we were woken buy a loud crash. Only to find one of the frames on the new frames on the floor broken! I'm so mad!! Not only did we spend $15.00 on the command strips and $12.00 on a now broken picture frame . I'm worried the rest of the pictures are going to fall off. What garbage very unhappy with this product. I will go back to the old fashioned way of hanging pictures

Hassle-free decorating

By

from Elkhart, IN, United States

Comments about Command Large Picture Hanging Strips:

I bought these strips a few months ago for a round mirror I wanted to hang in my entry way. I knew that hanging this large mirror would be a challenge, so I immediately bought these strips. I put them on mirror and put it on the wall. No measuring, no holes in my wall, and it's perfectly level and flush. Now, I use these strips for EVERYTHING!!
