Trash bag density:

Low-Density Bags (Low-D Bags)

Used for rough objects under tough transport conditions. These liners are very strong and more resistant to tearing, but handle lower load capacities than Hi-D liners. The thickness of low density liners is measured in mils. One mil equals one-thousandth of an inch. In general, the larger the waste can, the more mils needed for the liner.

Suggested Low-D Applications:

  • Sticks
  • Plastic eating utensils
  • Rough yard trimmings
  • Abusive transport conditions
  • Metal with sharp edges
  • Glass bottles
  • Objects with rough corners
  • Food with rough edges (crab legs)

High-Density Bags (Hi-D Bags)

Used for paper and non-rough objects under moderate transport conditions. These liners are very strong and handle higher load capacities than Low-D liners, but are less resistant to tears once punctured. The thickness of high-density liners is measured in microns. One micron equals one thousandth of a millimeter. In general, the larger the waste can, the more microns needed for the liner.

Suggested Hi-D Applications:

  • For office waste baskets
  • Dirt, grass, rags
  • Paper, paper plates/cups
  • Cans without sharp edges
