I've used a trackball to do CAD for years now, it's so much easier and faster. I started by using the Logitech Trackman Marble FX, the best thing on the market - for a right handed person... Alas, they are no longer manufactured. I was also diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson's Disease about 9 years ago at the ripe old age of 35. To begin with, it affects the dominant side, in my case, my right hand. No-one seems to make left handed trackballs, so I'm left with universal ones. I use the Logitech Trackman Marble Mouse at home as it has 4 buttons, and browsing the internet is much faster with more programmable buttons. At work, however, it has to be the Kensington Orbit. The addition of the scroll wheel is a key feature, allowing me to instantly zoom in and out. The large top mounted ball has you using your fingers not your thumb, so it's far easier to control. Comfortable design, your fingers adapt quickly to their roles and position; thumb and little finger operating the buttons, ring finger on the scroll ring, and first and middle fingers controlling the trackball. The only downside to this trackball... which I would imagine is quite an easy fix for the guys at Kensington, and opens the door to being the leader in trackballs... add another few buttons lads (and lasses). And BAM here's your 1st place trophy! Would I buy this product again, absolutely. Would I buy one if I saw the exact same thing but with extra buttons...? (on phone with store assistant) "I'm sorry, you said you have one with... extra butto... I'll be right there!" 9/10 guys, add extra buttons for the 100%

Bought this trackball mouse for work. I was happy at first because it is much less tiring to use than a mouse. However, the left mouse sometimes does not respond to clicks. Sometimes I have to click two or three, sometimes even four times, before the mouse actually responds. I read about this issue with Window's users but actually, I am on a very expensive 6-Core Intel MAC (the ones that look like ash trays) and this problem is very persistent. I downloaded the "TrackballWorks" Customization Software and the button begins to respond for a few clicks and then goes back to only responding intermittently. I do not recommend this trackball mouse, it'll drive you crazy. Because of the shape of it, however, can be easily converted into a fancy doorstop.

It has no software to set up orintation

By

from SC, United States

Comments about Kensington Orbit 72337 Trackball with Scroll Ring:

This works really great. The reason I gave it only 4 stars is because it doesn't come with software to set up the orientation of the left and right buttons. Other than that it works gr8.

No OS X El Capitan support!

By

from Kiev, Kyiv city, Ukraine

Comments about Kensington Orbit 72337 Trackball with Scroll Ring:

Just upgraded to OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 from Yosemite. Left button malfunctions. One actual click acts like no click, one click, two clicks or more. Right button and trackball and scroll ring work properly. Reinstalling Trackball Works doesn't help, remapping buttons doesn't help, restarting OS doesn't help. Dear Kensington should we give our trackballs to Windows users now??? Will change the review if it starts working again.

Please make a wireless version!!!

By

from New Jersey, United States

Comments about Kensington Orbit 72337 Trackball with Scroll Ring:

I love love love this trackball. I have one at the office, one at home, and my fiancée even went out and got herself one after borrowing mine a few times. I really wish there was a wireless one that kept the scroll ring though. only other improvement would be more grip on the bottom, it tends to slide on my desk a bit.

Scroll Ring and additional wrist rest beneficial

By

from Basel-Landschaft, Schweiz

Comments about Kensington Orbit 72337 Trackball with Scroll Ring:

Bought the Trackball last week and have been happy with it so far. Very responsive tracing and tracking of objects on the screen plus great control over the trackball's behaviour via the Kensington software. Personally I have always preferred thumb-controlled trackballs such as the old Logitech Trackman, though.

Comments about Kensington Orbit 72337 Trackball with Scroll Ring:

I love the ergonomic feel, fits just right. The DPI button makes it easy to switch in between what I'm doing (e-mail/web design). Convenient forward/back side buttons when browsing online. Great purchase in my book.

I enjoy this very much, still learning the ring

By

Comments about Kensington Orbit 72337 Trackball with Scroll Ring:

I bought this January. I am still adjusting to the ring. It's better then using the button to hold down the while I scroll down. Just roll the ring.

Missing wireless!

By

from Lithuania

Comments about Kensington Orbit 72337 Trackball with Scroll Ring:

Great trackball, the only 2 fearures i missed - wireless connection to pc and back-forward buttons (somewhere above and forward of right button). 4 only cause scroll ring is jumpy - it jumps 2 steps instead of 1 every other time.

Too Large + Sticky Trackball

By

from California

Comments about Kensington Orbit 72337 Trackball with Scroll Ring:

In all fairness, I have only had my Trackball w/ Scroll Ring for less than one hour. Plug & play gets 5 stars on my 1-day old Windows 10 laptop with a REALLY LOUSY touchpad. I haven't found yet on this site where to download software. Orbit trackball is way too wide, but I'll get used to it. I do like the scroll ring. I expect my rating to increase as I get used to my new laptop + new trackball.

One handed disabled veteran with limited mobility

By

Comments about Kensington Orbit 72337 Trackball with Scroll Ring:

I love this mouse as it allows me to access my computers with limited movements which are painful and tough to accomplish with a regular mouse and mousepad.

Best under $50 trackball

By

from LA, CA, United States

Comments about Kensington Orbit 72337 Trackball with Scroll Ring:

Pros: Fits my medium sized hand, buttons in natural position, guard ridge between ball and scroll ring is great. Cons: Build quality is poor. Great out of the box, but after a few months of heavy use, the buttons start missing clicks. But, then it is about $30 street price.

much much better than a mouse

By

from Portlandia

Comments about Kensington Orbit 72337 Trackball with Scroll Ring:

I bought this as a stopgap measure until I could afford the better 4 button version, which is a truly superior piece. This one is better than adequate, just limited, but for the price - excellent

Helpful, but not precise

By

from New York, NY, United States

Comments about Kensington Orbit 72337 Trackball with Scroll Ring:

Feels great, but ever time I let go of the trackball, their is a quarter inch downshift in the pointer. This is a serious deal breaker considering I spend most of my time navigating Excel spreadsheets.

everything as advertised and promised

Comments about Kensington Orbit 72337 Trackball with Scroll Ring:

As noted above, the Trackball is exactly as advertised and promised. I wish the buttons were closer to the front of the Trackball. Otherwise, all's good.
