This is the fourth Epson printer that I have used. Two were before I retired and two at home. My old Epson Artisan 800 gave up the ghost. I knew we wanted an Epson Workforce model. And we purchased the WF 3640 This Epson WF 3640 with dual trays plus the rear paper feed, two sided printing, scanning and more. The Epson IPrint allows me to print from my tablet and Android phone with ease and along with the LARGE MENU screen makes pairing the devices the easiest thing you could ever do. Imagine taking a photo in Colorado and printing it ON PHOTO PAPER on your WF 3640 at your desk in New Jersey. It has it ALL! The new Precision Core technology produces extremely sharp text, fast. Being a photographer, I tried photo premium glossy paper by Epson on an 8x10 print. The details in the photos were amazing! It far exceeded my expectations. I always believed in buying a heavy duty office printer as a cost versus quality thing, it pays to go heavy duty, it costs less in the long term I expect and will get many great documents from my Epson WF 3640

This printer had all the right features for the right price, but if something sounds too good to be true... 1. The print quality is just acceptable. This is the first time I bought a new printer and have been UNDERWHELMED by the print quality. 2. I don't understand why when I want to make copies I have to press the copy button twice, basically it needs confirmation that I really want it to copy each and every time, more if printing double-sided. Why is that necessary? Who does that? It's annoying, particularly when you have several copies to make. 3. The rear feed tray - DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! For one, you can only load one sheet at a time, which is very inefficient, but what makes it worthless is the fact that I have to stand there and load and reload the same sheet in that tray 4-5 times before it will actually print. I am baffled as to how that made it past the product testing phase prior to mass production because it is a PATHETIC excuse for a paper tray. 4. It doesn't matter what you set your default printing preferences to, this printer refuses to settle for anything other than standard factory settings, meaning I have to manually tell it how I want it to print every time. No more quick printing with this thing. 5. It will randomly select between using paper tray 1 or 2 when printing, even when you specify which tray to print from. This monstrosity ate up half a package of expensive specialty paper because following directions is simply not in it's programming. 6. After having this printer for 1 month, it has randomly decided it will no longer print from Google Chrome. No, it insists that the printer is not properly set up now, or not on the network and there is apparently no way to appease it, so I have to SAVE EVERYTHING to a PDF, THEN I can print from the internet. 7. Scanning - that's a whole lotta NOPE. Oh you'll think it's working, alright. It does a very convincing job of acting like it is scanning your documents, but once you try to pull it up on your computer, you will see that you've been had. Your scan is now in a virtual black hole, and apparently there is no possible way to redirect the scanner to save it elsewhere. It is a minor miracle that I have not yet smashed this monstrously huge, worthless, waste of space yet, but needless to say, I am returning it ASAP. Adults deal with enough stressful and ridiculous stuff every day as is. Ain't nobody got time for that from a printer!

Comments about Epson WorkForce 3640 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

This was an amazing buy! It works well with our Mac computers, and connects wirelessly, so no extra cords. And the precision with which it prints and makes copies is awesome! We scanned and copied a book that we had just to see the quality, and it looks like you can reach into the paper and pull the book out! It's that crystal clear!

Very good features

By

from Seattle, WA, United States

Comments about Epson WorkForce 3640 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

We got this printer about a month ago and set it up easily. The one feature we needed was to be able to save faxes directly to our computer to bypass printing them and then scanning them for our records. Everything is working fine now. I have not setup the printer to print remotely yet and I plan on doing that soon. We got it at a good deal and it has all the features that you need for a small business.

MOST PROBELMATIC PRINTER I'VE EVER HAD

By

from Grover Beach, CA, United States

Comments about Epson WorkForce 3640 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

This printer has networking issues; repeated error messages that my laptop lost communication with the printer. I would blame it on the internet service, but the laptops don't loose signal. The print quality is very poor. The file setup is cumbersome and counter intuitive with too many windows to jump through before you can save a scan where you want it. The only good thing about it is that it has a dual tray.

Big problems on the WF3640

By

from Chula Vista, CA, United States

Comments about Epson WorkForce 3640 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

I have had 4 of these because they do not do what they say they will do! The output color does not do what they say they will do. I have had to replace 3 of them and they all do the same thing. The color is not anything you would want your pictures to look like. Very Very poor copy when printing in color.

First impression

By

from Burlington, VT, United States

Comments about Epson WorkForce 3640 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

Seems like a nice product. The touch pad size made the touch pad easy, a relief to use. The screen was so small on my last printer that touch errors were a common frustration; the size alone tipped my decision to buy over comparable competitor models. The quick start guide was OK, but left too much out -- it didn't identify some hidden packing tape strips including one the locked up the ink carriage, and how to move along with the touch screen initial set up. I made a today's date entry error and the set up wouldn't move on, but it didn't tell me what the error was. You'd have to be an experience systems user to know which kind of "USB cable" to use to sync up with the PC. If you looked at the tiny picture of the USB/printer cable you might have guessed it was the 'square' end type used for video device connections. The first test prints look good. I have high expectations for an easy to use, reliable multi-purpose printer. The software setup was nearly flawless and very easy.

Rocky start

By

from Colorado, United States

Comments about Epson WorkForce 3640 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

I just bought my WF-3640. For some reason it took a bit to get it connected to my computer. Never could get it to work wireless - big bummer. The other problem is I can't get it to scan to my computer documents area!!! I followed the forum chain but the recommended fix is no longer active... I hate spending this much time on a piece of equipment that is SUPPOSED to make my life better. Will update when I get it figured out.

Document Feeder Quit Working

By

from Undisclosed

Comments about Epson WorkForce 3640 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

Initially, I was very pleased with this printer. After about 1 year, the document feeder quit working. Every time I put even one page in the feeder, I would get an error message saying paper jam when there was no paper jam. Trying to put in several sheets was hopeless. I also noticed that the print quality was not accurate. A line of text would suggest that the printer heads had not been aligned properly producing distortion in the text.
