This is the fourth Epson printer that I have used. Two were before I retired and two at home. My old Epson Artisan 800 gave up the ghost. I knew we wanted an Epson Workforce model. And we purchased the WF 3640 This Epson WF 3640 with dual trays plus the rear paper feed, two sided printing, scanning and more. The Epson IPrint allows me to print from my tablet and Android phone with ease and along with the LARGE MENU screen makes pairing the devices the easiest thing you could ever do. Imagine taking a photo in Colorado and printing it ON PHOTO PAPER on your WF 3640 at your desk in New Jersey. It has it ALL! The new Precision Core technology produces extremely sharp text, fast. Being a photographer, I tried photo premium glossy paper by Epson on an 8x10 print. The details in the photos were amazing! It far exceeded my expectations. I always believed in buying a heavy duty office printer as a cost versus quality thing, it pays to go heavy duty, it costs less in the long term I expect and will get many great documents from my Epson WF 3640

This printer had all the right features for the right price, but if something sounds too good to be true... 1. The print quality is just acceptable. This is the first time I bought a new printer and have been UNDERWHELMED by the print quality. 2. I don't understand why when I want to make copies I have to press the copy button twice, basically it needs confirmation that I really want it to copy each and every time, more if printing double-sided. Why is that necessary? Who does that? It's annoying, particularly when you have several copies to make. 3. The rear feed tray - DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! For one, you can only load one sheet at a time, which is very inefficient, but what makes it worthless is the fact that I have to stand there and load and reload the same sheet in that tray 4-5 times before it will actually print. I am baffled as to how that made it past the product testing phase prior to mass production because it is a PATHETIC excuse for a paper tray. 4. It doesn't matter what you set your default printing preferences to, this printer refuses to settle for anything other than standard factory settings, meaning I have to manually tell it how I want it to print every time. No more quick printing with this thing. 5. It will randomly select between using paper tray 1 or 2 when printing, even when you specify which tray to print from. This monstrosity ate up half a package of expensive specialty paper because following directions is simply not in it's programming. 6. After having this printer for 1 month, it has randomly decided it will no longer print from Google Chrome. No, it insists that the printer is not properly set up now, or not on the network and there is apparently no way to appease it, so I have to SAVE EVERYTHING to a PDF, THEN I can print from the internet. 7. Scanning - that's a whole lotta NOPE. Oh you'll think it's working, alright. It does a very convincing job of acting like it is scanning your documents, but once you try to pull it up on your computer, you will see that you've been had. Your scan is now in a virtual black hole, and apparently there is no possible way to redirect the scanner to save it elsewhere. It is a minor miracle that I have not yet smashed this monstrously huge, worthless, waste of space yet, but needless to say, I am returning it ASAP. Adults deal with enough stressful and ridiculous stuff every day as is. Ain't nobody got time for that from a printer!

not the best

By

from Undisclosed

Comments about Epson WorkForce 3640 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

I've had this several months and have to reload several times because the scanner stops working. I still am unable to print from any other device besides my computer despite loading the app to my iPhone. Also, the color quality is not great on the print outs - may just be because I don't know how to calibrate.

Horrible Setup

By

from Oregon

Comments about Epson WorkForce 3640 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

There is no explanation that could show how terrible of a wifi setup this is. Lets just say, the 3rd time on two different computers, having issues, and not printing. Its always great to go through a setup and not have the print test page work the first time and then have you horrible registration garbage.. If this continues to fail, you will be sending me a shipping label and a better printer.

Could be more user friendly

By

from Los Angeles, CA, United States

Comments about Epson WorkForce 3640 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

I just installed this computer for personal printing, scanning, and faxing. Scanning is definitely not user friendly! I expected to be able to just push a button on the printer control panel as on my other printer and not have to go into the computer system itself to search for an "event planner." Printing is also more difficult. Print "Preferences" does not give choice of draft or standard. Instead, I had to search through pages of options to finally find the "select" box to check for draft quality printing. Positive: printer is quiet and doesn't shake when printing.

As Expected

By

from Santa Maria, CA

Comments about Epson WorkForce 3640 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

Purchased on 02/20/2017, and happy with the quality and appearance of the WF-3640. Would have purchased the ET-4550 if it had been available at that time. Ink prices too high for quantity printing. Cheaper to have done at print shops. This is my fourth Epson Printer and still use the WF-610. Ink also too expensive for quantity printing with it also. Hopefully the ink will last longer with the new WF-3640 as advertised. DCS

Wish I'd done more research.

By

from Chico, CA, United States

Comments about Epson WorkForce 3640 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

We bought the Epson WF-3in1 for home office. The quality of printing is not the best. Even after cleaning the ink jets several times the printing results in a lighter than normal copy and clarity lacks. If you want a colored copier that is simple and easy without all the buttons this is not it. I don't need all the bells and whistles nor do I have time to figure it all out. It is easy to reload the ink jet cartridges which seems to be often.

Bad product!

By

from Marietta, GA, United States

Comments about Epson WorkForce 3640 Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Copy/Fax/Print/Scan:

It is a very bad product since the purchase is failing, every time you change an ink cartridge, it presents an error (code 0x69) that prevents it from restarting. When it finally works, the cartridges are almost empty (due to so many attempts to turn it on and off). The Epson support website does not offer any solutions. I need a printer, now I have to buy a new printer, the truth is that it will NOT be an Epson product.
