Look at some other options for an air purifier

Comments about Honeywell Enviracaire True HEPA Air Purifier:

Don't be fooled by the advertising headlines on this product. I have had air purifiers that cost $60-70 less that performed better. First of all, this product is very loud, even on the lowest setting, and you will not be able to hold a conversation or hear the TV w/o cranking the volume way up. But, this is something I can overlook if the quality of the air filtering is good. Unfortunately, it isn't there.

I air suctioning is extremely can blow air from your mouth with more force. I did an experiment and put the device in front of a window where I could see floating dust and none of the dust was absorbed into the filtration part. Yeah, the exhaust part where it's supposedly blowing out clean air is strong but what's the's just like having a regular fan blowing around the house. All it appeared to be doing was re-organizing dust. There is very, very little suction power that you can feel with your hands, even if you put your hand right up to where it's supposedly sucking in dust/allergens.

Steer Clear.

Comments about Honeywell Enviracaire True HEPA Air Purifier:

The delivery was very fast and prompt, which I appreciated. However, the product is somewhat disappointing. For the price, I've concluded that there are other air purifiers that are a better deal...dollar for dollar.

It's very loud, even on the lowest setting. On the high setting, you won't be able to watch TV w/o turning volume way up and you won't be able to carry on a conversation. But, I can live with that if the filtration is top notch, which it isn't.

The fan that blows the cleaned air out is strong but the suction/filtration power is weak. You can put your hand right up to the vents and feel very, very little suction at all. I wonder how it's supposed to suck up dust and other allergens?

I placed the unit in front of a window where I could see floating dust when the sun shines in and all it did was blow dust around through the top vent, where the cleaned air is supposedly exiting. I saw very, very little dust being sucked in through the side vents. So, basically, I guess it's just blowing dust around and re-organizing the allergens.

Where should you place it in the room

The best location for an air purifier is a place that has a few feet of clearance above and around it, next to any contaminants if there is a specific source. It should not be behind furniture or other obstructions, and away from televisions, microwaves and stereo equipment.
